Salwa Road what were they thinking???

Ok starting to realise the traffic in Doha will never improve with the road planners doing what they are. A trip up Salwa road today and i discovered at what used to be a round-about is now a huge junction with traffic lights!?
When will that start thinking proactivly about the roads here?
I havent been here to long but i visited dubai a few times and u can drive across most of town without having to stop at traffic lights.
Doha needs to invest in proper wide roads with flyovers/unders at evety major intersection. Intersections with traffic lights just dont work with the volumes of traffic this city has.
I'd love to know who is spending these hundreds of millions of riyals in new roads that cant even cope with ramadan traffic never mind regular traffic.
I'd advise against any travel on salwa once these new intersections start opening up as they are the wrong choice for such a busy road.

Remember the traffic at ...Remember the traffic at Shindagha Tunnel or Makhtoum bridge a few years back? Things didn't change overnight in Dubai and they won't change overnight here.
Yes, things can be better and a lot of scope for improvement but why this comparison with Dubai?
Dubai had the worst traffic management system when I was there with people leaving homes as early as 4:30 AM in an attempt to reach by 8 AM. Dubai-proactive-traffic, what a laugh.

Indeed, I learned my Arabic numbers from looking at car number plates at traffic lights / jams in Doha...

Oh one lat thing. A major landmark in Doha has ceased to exist, and a new one come into being. Decoration round-about is dead, long live Decoration Signal.

Qatardecoration round about ...It's impossible to do worse the things. Those traffic lights in Qatardecoration round about have afected to all who have to take salwa road to go to work.
Now I have to take different ways, do more kilometers and spend more time. Is it a solution? That is the way to improve the infrastructures? Can anyone remove the traffic lights? Unbelievable!

I'm sure the traffic lights ...I'm sure the traffic lights go green to allow you to move..... Upgrades take time and they do not do it deliberately just to inconvience you. This upgrade will benefit Qatar and Qataris for many years to come, so stay patient. The whinning is a bit annoying

agree with apoose. ever you ...agree with apoose. ever you been through sports R/A, the worst traffic lights over there. Also new traffic lights on salwa road, takes more than 5 mins. Even when no vehicle on other side, still the lights are on green. Please bring new technology and make the life much better. The government spending lots of money on these projects, so why they don't introduce similar systems which are inforce in western countries like Europe!

by "organized" traffic i mean ...by "organized" traffic i mean that here the traffic is caused by traffic lights.
In Lebanon no one follows the few traffic lights that are there and whenever they do spot traffic lights they pass them :D (that's the Lebanese way) there's heavy traffic in our country due to the huge number of cars in a country so small and the poorly planned roads/bridges.. and crappy infrastructure, thus, messy traffic vs organized (thru traffic lights) traffic. And no i can't forget about Lebanon. I guess you have already forgotten you country???
