when will qatar start work - FIFA 2022?
Supposedly, Qatar will spend around 42 billion dollars in infrastructure, which includes a cooling system for each of the 12 stadiums.
Talking about those, in 2010 nine didn't even exist and the other three needed major reconstruction. It's been one year and two months since FIFA made the official announcement and the stadiums' status is the same.

Dec 2010 was the award, so ...Dec 2010 was the award, so actually it is 1 year and 8 months and nothing has happened. I guess the work will start around 2021 and be finished in time for the 2030 World Cup. This has been agreed with FIFA and the appropriate fee has been paid

1 year 8 months and not much movement yet, perhaps after Eid Al-Fitr? Things usually tend to move forward after Eid as new beginnings.
Plus also USD2bil recently invested in Egypt to help the country get back on track economically and Syria's issues - do these external circumstances go toward diverting the funds elsewhere than for the local projects?

- As with most big projects, a lot of groundwork has to be done before any results or movement are seen outwardly. Hope all goes well.
