Hi! I would like to know where can i buy a professional Canon Mark III camera in Doha.
If anyone knows a place where i can buy a canon mark III or Mark II, (used or new), let me know...
and another thing, do you know how much does it cost in doha? i mean, an estimated cost???

Salam Plaza will be the only one having these. You will need to go to the branch opposite city center. They stock all Nikon and Canon Pro cameras as well as lenses and accessories. They even have the new EOS 5D MK II !!!!!

I asked them the price of ...I asked them the price of 1ds mark iii before.. i cost around 32k whereas in ebay or somewhere else, it only cost u around 25-36k..

Why not try the new Nikon D3x ...If he is going to spend around 32k, perhaps he is better off getting the new Nikon D3x. It is in many respects more advanced (the canon has been out for a while) in terms of technology moving forward quickly. The only limitation is its high ISO performance, perhaps limited and not as good as the D3.
By the way, what cameras are you guys using ? and lenses ? and ......

Only Salam have them ... 5D2 is QR13000 in Salam or QR9000 in USA/Malaysia/Singapore/UK, etc....

Hey! ...Hi guys! thanks for writting. well, somebody told me that i could get a mark 2 or 3 in a good price there in doha, buy i wasnt sure. now, reading your comments, and some stuffs in the web, i think its not such a good idea, its better to buy the mark 2/3 camera somewhere else, everyone says its too expensive there.
but i will keep an eye open in my visit to doha, but fater all the comments ive been reading, my expectations are very low man!

Unfortunately Salam Plaza is the only outlet in Qatar offering these pro model digital SLR's and for that reason, yes their prices are high if you compare with overeseas countries. The model you want is a top pro model and it is expensive regardless where you get it. Depends on what qualifies as a "good price" for you.

Part was a new focus screen. The previous one got scratched by my blower trying to get dust off it. It is REALLY soft plastic :O(
Cost QR120 fitted. Cost in Singapore was QR100 ... but out of stock!

5D MK II ...Hi photographer. Yes the 5D MK II is 13,000 Riyals body only. I priced it myself a few weeks ago. I don't know about the MK III, but I imagine around 20,000. By the way, are you in Qatar?

What do you need a camera ...What do you need a camera like that for? You don't specify which model, there are several "Mark II" Canons and two "Mark III"s. I don't know why everybody assumes you mean the IDs MkIII and the 5D MkII. Are you sure a 40D wouldnt meet your needs? Which lenses are you planning to use with it?

Top of the line Camera from ...Top of the line Camera from Canon is 1Ds MkIII - I think not available in Salam - The available camera is 1D MKIII (without "s") and it cost around QR20.
Or top ot the line from Nikon D3X (also not seen in Salam) - the available is D3 (without "X") with almost similar price with Canon 1D MkIII.
It's depend on your lens you have now - if you have Canon lens then you should buy Canon body.
I do not know what kind of journalist are you - sport journalist or indoor journalist. For sport definitely Nikon is the best, but for indoor Canon much better..
But why did you buy G10? it is not for journalist -- I use G10 only for travelling - for documentation / photography I use my DSLR..

And the G10 is much more ...And the G10 is much more expensive here when compared to the UK. Carrefour have it for QR2600 whereas in the UK you can get it for the equivalent of less than QR2000 at Amazon.
