Hi all,
We are starting a Group which called Qatar ِApple User Group, QAUG.
QAUG is a non-profit Apple User Group, which was created to support Mac users in Qatar community that can offer help and support, and nice place to get together with like-minded users.
We are on the process to begin of registering QAUG as an Apple User Group in Apple Computer Inc. in California, USA.
The User Group's ultimate aims are:
To establish and operate a community of users of Apple products in general and Mac computers in particular, that offers help and support to each other.
To offer this help and support both online through a web site and offline at meetings and other activities.
To educate the larger market about the benefits of Apple products in the hope of making some customers switch to Apple.
To help alleviate misinformation and miscommunication in the marketplace.
The main reason for starting QAUG was a feeling that there was a need for more information about Apple, Mac, and iPod and related issues in Qatar. We realized there is a dedicated but largely silent Apple-community in Qatar and we wanted to offer them a platform where they could meet each other, help each other out with problems, and to education people about the benefits of Macs and iPods.
So people who would like to join please PM me so I can let you know when the nexr meeting is going be>>> which will be very soon......

I have OS X 10.4 and would like to install 10.5 once its released.
What i wanted to know was, could i do an upgrade keeping all my applications and files intact or would i have to format and do a fresh installation...

about installing the new leopard, you can do unpgrade with no problem but the main thing is, some of the application would not function as they don't support the new OS......
so you have at least wating for the software company to do an upgrade so you can use it with Leopard or you can duel boot and install both on the same HD and try to test it before you do the big move.........

You already know me..with private messages.Am verymuch intrested to join in QAUG.infact its a very good idea,i really appreciate you for that..As i was selling iphone for last couple of month i have met somany apple users but they where sad about the support and service of apple product in Qatar.if we start a community like this it will help and support for those who seek help.
As i know your an IT guy me too.if we got more it guys in our community we can have our own QAUG service center like that and can give more support and awaraness about apple product..

Most of Apple users now is waiting for the new Apple OS Leopard..... so our next meeting is going to be after its released on Doha.

I already have the Leopard. ...I had downloaded the beta version since almost a month now. I have the Mac OS X Leopard 10.5 9A499 Build and 10.5 9A466 Build. They are both .dmg file but i just couldn't install them. Its quite a lengthy procedure and i really didn't have the patience. Hopefully i could get some help in the first meeting.

Glad that the silent mac users finally have a voice. had a chance to use the iphone a couple of days ago. Was blown away by the UI. Leopard should be coming out soon.
I am not sure how long it will take for stores out here to start selling them bundled with the new pcs.

I have seen the video demonstration ...jonathandsouza26 I have seen a video demonstration of the leopard desktop, it was fantastic, I am looking forward to test it. specially I liked this feature where you can see perview of all the files and also the quickview where you can see the file instantly without opening its application.

I am an iPod user (from a Nano 1GB to a Classic 80GB) and a Mac user (both iBook G4 Tiger 14" SuperDrive and MacBook Leopard), and obviously an Apple fanatic/freak!
