Inland Sea Overnight Camping
We went for camping to Inland Sea for 1 night. Left on Friday and came back to Doha on Saturday. The meeting place was in petrol station on the way to Wakra.

In total were 12 cars, 6 cars went for a day trip and the rest stayed overnight camping by the beach.

Amigo66 supposed to came with us … but he pulled out last minute because one of his daughter was poorlyl. He was disappointed not to be going, but did came around to send us the wood for the bonfire and to meet everybody. Thank you Amigo66 !!! :D

We saw a helicopter flying very low as we passed through Wakra, my husband insisted that it was an army helicopter, and my son insisted it was a rescue copper. Few kilometers after Wakra, we saw the chopper on the road side. There was a really bad accident. Yup, Son 1 Dad 0, it was a rescue helicopter.

Did some dune driving in both directions … Fareh took us to quite a challenging route … My husband had to do few times run up in some of the steeper dunes in our humble 7 yrs old Santa Fe … but the good old Hyundai never let us down, made it eventually at every challenge.

Some rescued mission had to be held to pull out some cars stuck in the sand. On the way to the camping site we had 5 x H2 , so plenty of ‘good car’ could ‘rescue’ the newbie dune driver who stuck in the sand. But good fun all the way and very entertaining, even when working to free the unlucky ones from the deep sand.

Fareh found us an ideal location; we corralled the cars, set up camp and soon had the BBQ’s, campfire and refreshments all in full operation. Saw an Eagle flew low overhead (well, presumed Eagle, no ornithologists among us, but it was a very large gird of prey) as if to welcome us to his territory.

A lovely evening was spent; kids tied up playing in the sea and sand. Fareh led the impromptu singing round the camp fire and I do now believe that there are actually millions of stars out there.
The peace and quiet was a welcome change to the busy hustle and bustle of life in Doha. Totally contrast compare to Ramada junction.

I slept in the car, while my husband curled up with our 6 yrs old in our mini tent. The odd roar of ‘tank’ engines passed us during the night as the nocturnal 4 x 4 did their best to keep us a wake now and then. We had already put lamps around the outside of the vehicles as a precaution.

Woke up at 6am and the weather was cool. Found loads of clues to our ‘midnight’ visitors, foxes, their foot prints everywhere around the camp site. I guess they looking for our food scrap.

Had a breakfast … and we packed up our stuffs., headed home, not before one of our night guests payed us a visit to say bye bye, a fox made a brief appearance before darting off behind the dunes.

Fareh did a garbage run to the skip before we finally combed the area for litter, and we left the area as we found it (how I wish everybody else did the same).

On the way back to Doha, just before airport round-about, a police check point was stopping all 3 lanes to inspect licenses/registration. Several vehicles had been pulled off the road when drivers were unable to show the correct documents, no idea what happen to them though.

Novi... ...Well, you are a brilliant photographer then. Excellent eye for detail, though none of them are close-ups. You have the talent to take good pics. But you have a greater talent for choosing just the right one.
Its easy to take pics. Its the choosing part which is always tough. Coz every picture is a favourite one. You did admirably well. hats off to ya!

Novi :) ...Glad that you had a nice time there, I'm going from time to time to Sealine but the inland ... I went there for once when i was 17 years old [9 years ago] but it was something that i would never forget. The weather is getting cold, but near the sea it is really freezing and cold. Wait for another month and even the bonfire won't work :)

Swissgirl ...I'm going to try out first the alwraka cause way, My friend is being showing around inland, some spots he likes to visit and camp around.
I'll let you know, currently I got all my fishing gear and ready to roll out with style and efficiency.
I'm going to do fishing like the old man and the sea novel...except for the boat and the marlin and sharks action.

Camp fires (open fires) now restricted at the inland sea? ...For the group who camped at the inland sea last weekend, or anyone else who may have some insight.
Are open fires(bonfires, campfires, call them what you will) 'legal' at the inland sea?
A Qatari friend of mine mentioned that they've been tightening up the regulations in terms of the more permanent camp sites, garbage/junk left behind and he felt that you might need to have a 'permit' or permission of some sort to have a fire.
Does anyone know if there is any truth to this? Over the past 4 years I've camped many times and its never been an issue. I'm camping this weekend and not looking forward to any unpleasant surprises, going to get on the telephone but Thursday afternoon is a poor time to deal with government departments.

turbo ... ...Our camp was next to the police post (just across the water is Saudi land). And while we had the bon fire we had police patrol up and down our camp site and they never said anything.

Just returned from our trip, had an 8 hour fire last night around the same location as you were camping (near the police/boarder patrol tower).
No one took any notice at all, and as you said the police patrol passed by several times with no comments.
So I guess that answers my question.
