Apprently there have been a number of amnesties in the past where long-term residents (usually from Iran and other local countries) have been give full Qatari citizenship. This still happens as a result of outstanding contribution to the community although very infrequently and not much talked about.

Source of data... ...i have been over the QF website end to end and can't find these numbers or this chart anywhere. Can anyone tell me where the numbers originated? The statistics authority don't seem to offer this information and their total population figure is slightly different. There has been no census since 2010 so the numbers must be an estimate and in that case then it would be very helpful to know who did the estimating.
I know the CIA World Factbook numbers are dramatically different.

Paul R is right though, it should be less than 300,000. Mistake in the image? Should the symbol '>' really be '<'? Source is Qatar Statistics Authority.

Lots of Iranians got ...Lots of Iranians got nationality in the 1970s and early 80s. Just like plenty from other Gulf countries and Pakistan did during this period. Citizenship was pretty easy to come by back then.

A great salute to all Indians ...A great salute to all Indians and Qatar. I like them very much. Indians are humble and highly talented people in every field. You can see tea boy to higher level professionals. They all simple,hard working and dependable peoples. In my opinion due to their humbleness/inferiority complex, every where they are exploited.

Compared to some of the other ...Compared to some of the other reports I've seen, this is actually quite close. May be an estimate from the previous census but I think it's close enough.
And take it from me as an American... the CIA website is not a great source to even bother looking at! Qatar would know about Qatar than the CIA knows knows about it's 15% unemployment and poor population!
