Marine Aquarium
Dear Friends,
I am a Aquarium Hobbyist from India and am planning to setup a Marine or Freshwater tank at my home in Qatar.
I saw some fresh water tanks and setups(not impressive) in Souq Waqif, but could not find any Salt Water setups.
1) Is it allowed to have a Marine Fish Tank in Qatar?
If Yes,
2) Is it allowed have Live Rock or Reefs?
3) Where can I get the items to build a Marine Setup?
If there is no option for setting Marine tank I would like to go for a Fresh Water Planted tank for which I need good varieties of plants and Java Moss or Christmas Moss, where can I get all this stuff?
Any help appreciated.

Yes its allowed here but ...Yes its allowed here but difficult to get life rocks ( will have to make your own ) plenty of Marine fish Limited varities of anemones and no life corals

There's a good aquarium shop ...There's a good aquarium shop in Al Mirqab, right on the corner of the traffic lights where Al Mirqab crosses the road up to Al Saad.

...first you will have to import Rocks...lol....the rocks here are limestone based....not the granite ones you might have in mind.....
....fresh water was easy...just dig a couple of meters into the ground and you could hit sweet water...
....but salt water?....you will get get some from the sea...
Your idea seems cool....do you have some images of your aquarium back home? If yes...Could you upload them here?

No need to get water from ...No need to get water from the sea ( but its a cheaper alternative) Special marine salts are available here

tcom - thanks for the info ...tcom - thanks for the info my friend, I was also concerned about the tank maintainance when I go on vacation. Its good to know that someone will take care of your tank.
shazbat - I am planning to visit Mirqab this evening.
jackmohan - Saline tanks are one of the most beautiful tanks you would have ever seen, they are difficult to setup and maintain, apart from the high cost factor. But you will forget everything when you see those beautiful fish swimming in front of you. I had fresh water tanks back home, but have book experience with marine tanks.
Qatarhomeboy - I may be here for some years, and tcom clarified the concern I had with vacation maintainance.
I'll look at the cost and probablity of setting up a Saline tank this evening, will have it setup by this month end(if things go well).
Else, Planted Tank Zindabad. :)
