I am having a problem copying/cutting JPG files to a USB device. USB is 2GB and empty, total number of files are 300mb.

Half of them transferred succesfully, then this message appears for the remainder in the usual microsoft blue and grey box:

'Error copying file or folder'

'Cannot copy 32: The directory or file cannot be created'

32 is the file name.

I checked the properties of those transferred and those that wont, they are the same.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

If you're living life on the edge, you've got too much room.

SherifEldeeb said There's a limit in the root directory ...

When you copy files to a root directory " That is the place when you open the drive, i.e. C:\ or d:\ or whatever" there's a limitied number of entries that can be created there "512"

This might be the case, so try to make a folder then copy the files into this folder instead of just copying and pasting the files to the root.

And also please note that you might bought a cheap buggy one :) they tell you it's 1GB, and the OS is telling you that they're right, but it's only 512 , sorry for that, if you want to know if  you have hardware problems, do the following steps " I'll assume you're using windows ":

Start->run -> type in the box " CMD " without the quotes

a black screen will show up, type :

chkdsk /x /r g:     "replace g: with your usb stick name"

if something is wrong, you'll find a number written beside something called " Bad sectors "

Tell me what happened

*Daiwai*:

What on earth has this to do with his question????

and by the way, it's not only "con", try AUX or LPT1 or COM1.

if you want to know why this is happening go google it, it's remanents of DOS

Thank you God for teaching humankind how to compile Linux among *everything* else.
