50 teachers told to vacate homes
50 teachers told to vacate homes

DOHA: Fifty teachers working for the Ministry of Education were shocked when they received a notice to evict the building they live in within three days, before their electricity is cut off.
The teachers were surprised when they received the notice from the housing department in the ministry, telling them they had to leave their homes in three days, and will have their electricity cut off thereafter.
The teachers were asked to move to another building prepared for them by the ministry. They complained that the time period given to them was too short to move, especially since examinations were going on in schools.
When some of the teachers started moving their belongings, they received another shock when they found that the new accommodation was not fit to live in. They said the building looked like it had been abandoned for some time and it didn’t have electricity. The apartments were also filled with litter and dirt and lacked basic services, according to some of the teachers.
Much to their dismay, the teachers were not given any prior notice about the move, nor did they receive any official explanation as to why this action was taken by the ministry.
The teachers have pleaded with the ministry to delay their move; at least until the examinations are over, and asked the ministry to get the appropriate authorities to provide basic services at their new accommodation.

OH MY!!! i believe, the ...OH MY!!! i believe, the teachers are expatriates...
talk about a country/people being FAIR and actually HAVING a brain and heart that goes with it...
these are the people who LITERALLY share in "SHAPING" our children...
they are the second moms and dads to OUR LITTLE ONES...
THIS does not sink in....
THE ministry of education better have some good, rather acceptable reasons for this...
but at the end... do we really have a SAY on this matter???

how could ...how could they do that to the teachers? just the same from my home country, the teachers are the least priority of the government.
expect nothing, do more, love lots, smile often, cry sometimes but continue living....

Oryx, it's not just this ...Oryx, it's not just this single matter in this thread too... we're generally talking about the unfairness and the injustices in here... and it really pisses me off...can't stop blabbering...where is the respect/deference in all of these?
at the end of the day....you are right... STAY IN THE MUD IF YOU CAN..IF NOT, GET OUT...
This place can do so much to change a PERSON!!!! for the good as well as for the worst...
it's yer choice..but can we afford the choices given to us here??

I would be upset if I was ...I would be upset if I was one of those teachers. But, did they use their brains? no wonder the education system is broken.
There was a wave of new legislations and decisions by the government to move assets and responsibilities to the new Supreme Council for Education, and they gradually stripped the ministry from all its powers and budget.
I think it is fair to say that there was no surprise, but the teachers will use the occasion to complain anyways

Only in Qatar. ...Do you really think the ministers give a shit.
They live in their big houses, why worry them with this issue
Power to the non believers, it’s a great feeling to have and hold.

the state should be more ...the state should be more careful and conscientious, should i say. the transparency of the news and forums like this could taint what they have been trying to build and bring them down...
people would want to leave Qatar with smiling faces and good memories... (if we ever leave at all LOL)

it's really sad to know ...that it happened to some people , in extent to teachers, where I myself consider them as pillars of education institution. Don't you think news such as these might taint the education drive push by the government? With respect of course to what Her Highness been trying to upgrade in this country?

Absolutely incredible that ...Absolutely incredible that real estate laws in the country are still not sufficient enough to prevent this happening to innocent tenants. 3 months OK, 3 DAYS!?
It is events such as this, that undermine any type of confidence of living a normal life in Qatar. More proof that authorities either simply dont care or are inept in creating a NORMAL climate that concerns everybody, tenants and landlords.
