"Get - Real Estate Agents " should not complain!!!!

Source ::: The Peninsula
"DOHA • Real estate agencies say they are losing business as an increasing number of property owners now prefer to deal with potential tenants directly through newspaper advertisements."
Like anyone will feel sympathy for Real Estate agents. Some of these companies and their commission hungry staff are adding to the whole rental market problem. They should be happy to have made a substantial killing at the expense the local population and expat community over the last few years.
I'd deal with a landlord direct everytime

The rental problem one sees ...The rental problem one sees these days in Doha is mostly cosmetic and is done by these hungry real estate agents. I know it b'cos I have met few of them. The bigger an agency the higher its capacity to hold on to property.
Its not what we pay as rent is what a local owner usually get. The real owner might get only between 60%-70% of the rent we expatriates pay per month.
It is better owners directly deal with us. It is a win-win situation to both. We pay less rent and owners can charge higher than they would otherwise get from these sharks.

correctly! get rid of middle ...correctly! get rid of middle man to avoid more higher rent fees. They the one got easy money all the time. To much commission.

Besides...have any of you ...Besides...have any of you dealt with a real estate agent over here who does not exaggerate ?
Or...have any of them actually told the truth to a client?
Not in my experience....

Thats very true... ...Thats very true...
The Qataris get paid only 40-50%. The lions share is taken by the middle-man (agent), who is usually a person the Qatari trusts.
Usually for a villa that a Agent charges QR 15,000 per month the Qatari gets about Qr5,000 to QR 6,000.
Last month a Qatari lady offered an Indian family I know a Villa for QR 5,000 /month!!! But her condition was only 2 families can share the Villa when there would have been atleast Indian 4 families there.
Still the Rent they pay per family is QR 2,500.
Really a win-win situation.

Skdkak, that is probably ...Skdkak, that is probably true..but I never had to deal with them anywhere but here.
So, now I am living on a "very luxurious compound, with a restaurant, greenery, heated pool, etc...." funny thing is....can't find any of those things here....and the houses are falling apart as we speak...ah, never mind...all things come to end sometime..in my case hopefully sooner than later.
