English station shouldnt play french program !

For a station that is affiliated with Al Jazeera there is a real dearth of news coverage. What do we get, two or three times a day? And yes, please, three and a quarter hours of French in the early and middle parts of the day is excessive! And that London Line program makes me want to commit suicide.

its not 'all' about the music..its also about the DJ's accents and their lack of fluency in english. One fellow talks as if he has a hot potato in his mouth or trying to talk with his nose closed ,other talks as if he is reading while he is washing his clothes...literally searching for words....and one lady talks as if she is reading the lines straight after she woke from sleep..... the quality of presentation should improve

Lose the (c)Rap & RnB - there's TOO much of it. More Rock, Alternative, Indie, punk, classic 80s etc.

How about a Country hour? Lots of backwater Americans living in Doha.

Less talk from the DJs. You might like the sound of your own voices but as above, most of them grate on the listeners' nerves.

Fridays - a bit of everything! If I hear 2 Rappers in a row the radio goes off and the iPod goes on.

Every comment made here has been the absolute truth. Terrible announcers (sorry Rana, but your English pronounciation is hilarious), too much French, London line is BORING. News commentatary is ridiculous- I love how they recap what they just told you--which are just soundbites, no real news: ("HH The Emir send a congratulatory cable to Sheikh X in Abu Dhabi). You even play X-rated hip hop songs in the evenings! I have given up on QBS a long time ago. It needs a total and complete revamp.

well if you are really rana as you say you are from QBS then change the whole format of QBS, it would be better if you change your whole format. No French hour please! No more R&B! not only your music sucks but the whole QBS.

The fact that you think that just changing the music will solve the problem shows how little of a clue QBS has.

None of the DJs I've heard have the necessary charisma, personality or radio skills to host a radio show. They are, quite frankly, appalling.

The news is a joke and not worth listening too.

And the music is poorly chosen mish-mash of stuff, some good, some bad, but there's no coherency. In my experience, the sort of people who text in asking for songs are the sort of people with bad music taste. Try picking tunes yourself, that's what DJs are supposed to do.

And for love of God, look up what 'radio-edit' means and start playing them. I'm surprised you get away with some of the foul language you play out, which gets broadcast in all the shopping malls and supermarkets.

There is no attractive HINDI/URDU channel for such language speakers/community.

You can hear FM 89.1 and other dubai based channels the way the host it beautifully. I really miss them when i'm unable to track them or hear them due to weather

Yes I do hear 97.5 FM and really get bored too. "Breakfast show" is like "GOOD NIGHT show" for the listeners. Plzzzzzzzzz stop telecasting FRENCH segment on English channel. It doesn't make any sense. Moreover, how many french ppl are living in Qatar that you are giving them that much hours

In the end i would like to tell you that just hear different FM channels broadcasted from our neighbouring countries and you will know how to maintain a standard on RADIO CHANNELS

i find french programming in-appropriate, at least on its timing.

i personally could use some sensible connections while tuned in, driving to work....

QBS is honestly one of the worst radio stations imaginable. I am the same as somwerNdmiddle, and thank God I have a 6 CD changer in my car so I dont have to listen to it.

Having the whole afternoon taken up by a french speaking programme is insane. There should either be a dedicated french speaking channel, or nothing at all. No chopping and changing languages. I mean, how many french speakers are there in Doha? Surely not enough for a 3 hour programme.

And whats with the whole playing a song for 30 seconds before the DJ starts talking and then changes the song? At least let the song finish.

With the news - where do you start? I was listening to QBS yesterday (Not through choice - the car had been for its service and had forgotten to put the CDs back in). The story about the Air France crash was like number 5 or 6 on the list of stories - surely they should prioritise?!?

And the choices of songs - some of the non radio edited versions - when I hear them in the mall or carrfour or somewhere, I cringe. I mean, there is no need to play the songs with all the swear words in, especially in the middle of the day. You certianly wouldnt here this on an English Radio Station, and if you did, there would be uproar.

Maybe QBS should do some research into english speaking channels. I know on the Web you can listen to BBC Radio 1, 2, 4, Galaxy, Classic FM, Heart. If someone sat down an listened to the content, layout, news feeds, songs played, maybe they would get an idea as to what would improve QBS.

Final word - thank god for ipods, live streaming on the internet and CD changers in cars :o)

and pleeease stop playing arabic songs, if we want arabic songs we can switch to lots of other stations.

English station should not play Arabic songs ..... PERIOD also all those UK topics should go. french should have thier own dedicated station.. More competion and giveaways like tickets for dinner, movies etc.

Yes, what is with the boring UK talk show that's on at around 4? Like I care about someone who knits tea cozies in Dorsetshire. I was listening one day and the guy was commenting on how hard it was snowing outside.

Please please please please get rid of Sherry. And the horoscopes. And stop leaving CDs on play that then get stuck and take over 4 minutes to sort out - yes I was stuck in traffic and timing you.

I personally feel embarassed for DJ's of QBS. It's an english language radio station so why can't anyone speak good english?

I LOVE the news readings - it's a great way to pass time, couting the mistakes and trying to work out what word they were supposed to say.

French? It's an english station. But that doesn't mean I want to listen to those horrendous, long-winded London crap things that you don't even play to the end.

Do you guys not feel REALLY stupid pretending to interview people? We know it's not real - but do you? All the uh-huhs and yeahs all the way through make me cringe!

Talking over the songs is my biggest pet peeve and it seems loads of other people have the same feeling. Take the hint - stop doing it.

You tried to have a genre theme to your shows but that goes out the window within minutes. Rock themed sections shouldn't have RnB in them. Take a leaf out of Capital Radios books.

Ditch the adverts - repetitive, amateur and boring.

Just a thought - Qatar is such a small country yet you don't talk about anything going on. Why not for 2 minutes at the weekend mention the events going on for the week? Doha Players events, Fairs, Orchestras etc. Doesn't have to be long but it might be an idea to get everyone involved.

OK I'll stop now but you get my drift. It's boring, repetitive and if I have to listen to Sherry's suicidal voice one more time I might cry. In a nut-shell, just stop doing everything you're doing and it'll be good.

And let QAWS have a spot every week so we can have a dog of the week for rehoming :D

I will speak for myself, i don;t listen too much to this station, only during driving to or from work. I am an 80 ies music fan, so i would like to listen to more of the 80ies songs. Also 60 and 70 hits ( oldies) would be nice. thanks

chelsea you are trying to screw someones job who is making a living by working at the radio and at the same time you are trying to rehome a dog using their radio....you dont have any sympathy towards humans i dont know how you take care of dogs.

Yep, I second that Chelsea, but say 10 minutes a day on community news.

Also agree on prioritizing news. He may rule the country but I don't believe "The Emir sent a cable of congratulations ...." should take precidence over "288 lost at sea in an aircrash"! Even in newspapers the 'court circular' is on page 5 or 6.

Personally, I have no objection to the occasional Arabic song, as long as it is very occasionally and a 'western' sounding production to it.

the dj who talked while the song is being played, please tell her that we prefer to hear the singer not her.

the dj who cut the song in the middle of its play so he/ she can replaced it with another, kindly tell him/her that it is not a medley or a remix or what. he/she should show respect to the singers and their songs because that's the reason why he/ she is employed in the first place.

don't play fast songs in the middle of the night every night for god's sake. while i can understand that on thursday night, most weeknights people are trying to get some decent sleep. so have pity.

I have to disagree with you, when you have a job, you should do your best to keep it, just because you're making a living out of it, doesn't mean you are actually good at it, and I don't think chelsea is the only one feeling annoyed by that girl's voice... I second him on that one!

Goodness! all you need to be in the radio is have a bit of charisma and a nice voice! Is that too much to ask??

EveryMothersNightmare if she wasn't taking care of the dogs properly wouldn't you tell people she should be fired? If a doctor wasn't doing their job properly and hurt or killed someone wouldn't you say they should be fired?

The people working at QBS can't do their jobs. Therefore, they shouldn't have them.

The DJs on QBS are rubbish. That's why they're being criticised. And anyway, the DJ doesn't determine what ads are broadcast during the show.

You seem to be under the impression that QAWS wasn't allowed to have a spot on QBS. Just to clear things up - we've never approached them to do a weekly spot - hence why it was in my ideas of things they could do.

a few nights back when they were doing the evening news, the lady who was just obviously reading it took gaps in every segment... as in gaps... like there is dead air on the radio... haha... maybe she couldnt figure out which was next or she couldnt read the handwriting of the person who wrote it.

kyuting - you mean the gap they leave between each news story? I find that so annoying. It's obviously a deliberate thing, but it sounds sooooo ridiculous.

rana, i guess QBS has to have a survey of some kind to find out what really your listeners want from your radio station. it's an english station so it's a no brainer for all of us (strike out the french hour for the nth time!)

Forget loosing rnb and pop or whatever. Start by loosing that goon Bernie Lyons. What kind of sad DJ hates eminem. He is dead boring. I'd say he'd fail to pass the cool-factor for a retirement home.

About the FRENCH programming. Honestly!!!!!I have had 19years of qbs french. Programming should be developed keeping the audience base in mind.

I thought part privatisation of QBS would help. But then, its same old...same old.

Rana, the other countries around Qatar play fantastic music. I only listen to music from Dubai or other Gulf channels that I catch. DJ's from these channels don't talk as much as the one's on QBS. Some of the DJ's on QBS blatter out any rubbish that makes no sense. QBS has 1 English music channel. In that there will be a talk show, documentary & a French transmission. How do you expect people to listen to QBS. QBS transmission should be 50% latest music, 30% request music & 20% listening pleasure music. There should be no French service or documentaries. Also QBS should be a 24 hour music channel. This should have been done years back. It is astonishing to hear you'll say that you'll are the Gulf's No. 1 music channel. Are you'll serious?????????

Because she's not in a position to - she's just an RJ. And even then she doesn't seem to think there's anything wrong with QBS. Hopefully she'll come back with contact details for someone in charge and we can send this QL link to them!!
