How are the Qataries
Salaam,
I have got a good job offer in Qatar at the Doha airport though I am still to start all the visa process.
In the meanwhile I came across a site called qatarsucksDOTcom and read a lot of negative things about Qatar and now have become bit skeptical.
I read that the Qataries are a rude, mannerless stock and that they do not respect the other nationalities, especially the Indians, and I read a lot more crap there.
I strongly hope that this is incorrect.
Can someone please let me know whats the exact situation ?
I understand the fact that living in a foreign place has its own implications but the way that website put it was like the moment I land in Qatar I am gonna be treated like an animal or worse.
Also is being employed at a government controlled facility like the airport better than a job at a private firm ?

You will probably never meet a Qatari .. most of the 'real' work is done by Indians, Nepalese, Filipinos etc.

if u r a south indian u wont ...if u r a south indian u wont even feel u have left india.. there will b tons of mallus around 2 giv u company.. if u r frm up north u wud feel weird 4 a while but will settle down fast... haven't come across any discrimination so far......

I guess the truth speaks for the labours out their who are exploited by not only qataris, but contractors who came here to make a lot of money errespective of the welfare of their workforce

johnpur, the labor ...johnpur, the labor exploitation problem is something that I have read a lot with context to the middle east. but I think that its the same even in India. Do we treat them well here also.
In Mumbai I am appaled by looking at the living conditions of those labours who dig roads and do other civil work they live in sub human conditions and no one seems to care or complaint.
Its just that this has been accepted and everyone turns a blind eye to this.
I cant comment on other countries as I have never been away.

Wait until you are lost in ...Wait until you are lost in the desert or have a puncture. The ONLY people who ever bother to stop are the Qataris. While waiting at the bus stop at Hamad, twice Qatari ladies have stopped and insisted on driving me home to Dukhan. That's at least 3 hours driving as the roads were then, not the mark of a totally bad nation. The worst people here are the other nationalities who shove me out of queues and have no manners whatsoever. I still have a mark where a woman dug her nails in my arm at the Hamad Pharmacy queue and for certain she was not Arabic.

Qataris are generally nice ...Qataris are generally nice and affable people. Unfortunately they are a people of a lot of contradictions too.
To be realistic... you aren't going to have a lot of "real" interaction with the locals. I have worked with locals directly on a daily basis for over a year now and they still do things that vex me the moment I think I have them figured out.
Still, nice people but very confusing.

well! ...qatar is quite place to leave and work, ive been here for how many years,managing my small bussiness,i didnt encountered any problems with qataris,there is some but tolerable.about the site you are saying,that site is really sucks,im a jews like the american people.in every human kind have different choices with our life.all i can say come and enjoy qatar if you can?be flexible!

Qataris are very good people compare to other national ...I advice u to proceed coming to Doha because it is a nice place to live and work.

samix, ...I don't think Qatar is any different then the other countries around. We have the good and the bad - so its just the same. Join our group and you will make great friends and you can meet us once in a while when you are here.
