Fear grips workers of a ‘haunted’ labour camp
As reported in Gulf Times:
GRIPPED by the fear of the unknown after rumours spread of a “ghost” doing the rounds of their labour camp, hundreds of Nepalese workers of a leading construction company prevented some 4,000 of their campmates from going to work yesterday.

There seems ...There seems to be a great deal of things going on withthe Nepalese recently.
Last year four labourers died because the had a lung imbolie this in turn hit a panic underthe workers that there was somthing supernatural going on. In fact for a while Qatar banned any new Nepales workers coming into Doha.
They are very superstitious people and they let romurs influence them.

superstitious ...yep, they r a superstitious lot.... thats y they get easily influenced by things like these..... even today morning there was some kinda emergency situation in the Industrial Area, anybody has any idea on it...?

apparently the leading ...apparently the leading construction you are talking about here is my company. and we have some strike since yesterday in one of our camp. the reason is not because the ghost or some black magic work. is more complicated and I am afraid i cannot tell you the detail. there is alot of speculation for what is happening but so far even the company and police cannot make final decision what couse the death of the nepali.

My bet is that they are ...My bet is that they are striking and the newspapers are reporting it as something else so as not to draw attention to the fact that the workers are standing up for their rights.

The Actual Fact of people dying ...is that some of them died due to H2S hydrogen sulfide poisoning, an autopsy would have revealed that but the Nepalese labourers dont know about H2S so they think that a ghost is killing them.
A strike also happened in 2005 as people were dying and no one cared. Apparently it was also due to H2S poisoning and at that time army had to be called in to take control of the thousands of striking workers in RasLaffan

I wonder about the air we are breathing every day....low level exposure can cause symptoms of, dizziness, fatigue, loss of appetite, cough, nausea, headache, sore throat.
H2S smells like rotten eggs.

H2S (hydrogen sulfide) ...H2S is present in natural gas. There is no definite limit to the amount of H2S in natural gas but it is a nuisance, so during the processing of natural gas H2S is removed from the natural gas.
In RasLaffan QatarGas and RasGas both remove H2S from the natural gas but sometimes what happens is that the natural gas escape from the holes and it also contains H2S. Natural gas is lighter than air so it goes up whereas H2S is heavier than air so it tends to settle down and if accidentally someone inhales H2S in large quantities it can cause problems for him. As H2S settles down so with the movement of air it tends to disperse and it can also go down in trenches where people are working and they might inhale it.

Sometimes ...If you have inhaled dangerous amount of H2S you feel drowsiness and in the event of going to sleep, you might not wake up again.
Some labourers who went to sleep and were found dead the next day. And as many labourers are forced to live in a room and in the event of one dying for unknown reason, this will definitely scare them off.
This probably explains the unknown reasons for their death.

But I wonder, if this/these labourer(s) were wearing appropriate safety masks, how it was only one was so tragically affected by the fumes.

Jauntie ...Usually workers do not have to wear the masks while at home. Those masks should be used when they are doing some works inside underground tunnels or deserted wells, where H2S is usually found. But as a standard procedure, when workers have to get inside such places, H2S test should be done and necessary precautions should be taken.
So, workers are not expected to get exposed to H2S at their accommodation. If H2S was present there, then 100s if not 1000s should die.
However, my info is that the workers do not like wearing the masks. Usually they are given proper masks but they opt to put some cloth at their mouth and nose.

This incident was happenend in MID MAC comapany's camp.According to workers of that camp,they slept well after having their meal.In the next morning,when other friends tried to wake up the duty three friends found dead.According to the news 7 people were died in one month.Most(5) of them are nepali.Even official dint told them doctors report about the cause of death.They gave 24 hours ultimatum to change the camp or send back them to
nepal.But official of that company denied to do the both request and ordered to go back in work.........But again workers denied to go back to works and company called the police and army to surround the camp...........
How can they stay such that camp ?
