SDJC's picture

Rescuers recovered five more bodies from a Dubai-based supply ship which sank off the Qatari coast, bringing the number of dead to six.

Five people, including the captain, were rescued after the vessel with 35 people on board sunk near the Doha Channel, about 10 nautical miles off the coast on Tuesday

According to The Peninsula, the ship was carrying 9 crew and 24 employees of HBK Power Cleaning and two caterers working for a company hired by HBK

HBK should force their contractors to go through Safety training (at least basic safety and sea survival)...

I just hope they can find the rest of the crew... after 48 hours, the chances of finding somebody alive are quite slim...

The title is misleading.. It should be Dubai ship tragedy.

May they rest in peace... I hope the owners of the ship have the decency to fully compensate the families for their loss.

As always the poor and the needy suffer. Its a sad world we live in..

I kinda wonder why it sank, supply vessels like that operate all over the world under considerably worse conditions than Tuesday. I'm sure the investigators will be asking all sorts of questions about maintenance, loading and if hatches were properly closed.

drsam said how long is a nautical mile? ...

10 nautical mile off the coast, and crew members so they must know how to swim for GOD sake! a simple phone call and a helicopter would have picked them from the sea!
1- was there in explosion on board that ripped the ship apart and sank immediately (autopsy of the corpses to see if burned, ripped or drawn) or
2- the ship is worthless with no telecommunication so the poor stood in the water and no one knew!

poor victims.
but the truce can be quicly known. the bodies r there, and the ship wreckage is accessible (10 nautical miles off the coast).

mercy be upon their souls
