An angel needs to fly

juliez's picture

Could anyone help us to transport a gorgeous young rescued Saluki to the Eastern US, in the next week or so?

We are trying to reunite her with her mother and sister who have been adopted by a family over there and who flew to NY this morning, thanks to the kind help of a QL regular

We will arrange all paperwork and cover all costs, take the dog to check in, and they will be collected from you at the airport on arrival.

All you will need to do is let us have your flight details and inform the airline that you will be taking an animal as accompanied baggage.

This would be such an act of kindness, so if you can help in any way, (or if you know anyone who could assist) please let me know. Many thanks

Chelsea said Accompanied Baggage ...

Have you contacted the pet relocation companies to see if any of their clients are travelling to the US and are only taking a cat or small dog?

They'll know alot of the animal lovers travelling that would be willing to take another animal accompanied baggage.

I took the two dogs over with me this morning, The reason all 3 didn't go is that Qatar Air only allows a passenger to take a maximum of 2 pets, otherwise I would have taken the lot. It was no big hassle for me, just a few minutes waiting for them to be wheeled into the luggage area. No problem bringing them through customs. The dogs were very quiet. By now the two dogs are hopefully in their new home on a farm in Pennsylvania.

Chelsea, Hagar was kind enough to take two dogs with him, the maximum number allowed. That is why we need another volunteer to reunite the family.

Chelsea, we have had full support from a local pet relocation company, who did all the paperwork for free, but we wanted to send at least 2 dogs together, which meant that someone travelling with no pets was ideal. Hagar replied to my ad within a couple of hours, and was very helpful,so that made it easy for the first two.

What we also need help with, now, is locating a second hand crate which we could use to transport the third dog, as this would help to reduce costs tremendously. If you have any ideas, or if anyone has a crate they no longer use, I'd be really grateful.

OK but have the pet relocation company not got any clients travelling with just one animal that would be willing to take the dog?

Have you contacted all the other relocation companies and explained the situation? I'm sure they'd all be very willing to help if you ask them. As I said before, they will know who is travelling to the States in the near future and who would be in a position to approach and ask them a huge favour.

I've worked for one of the relocation companies so I know just how easy it is to take them as accompanied baggage.

What size crate does the dog need?

Chelsea, the crate would need to be approximately 36" x 26" by 27" and if you could help that would be brilliant.

Although it wasn't needed for the first 2 dogs, due to Hagar's immediate and generous response, it's a great idea for me to contact other relocation agencies, in case they don't use QL.
