i phones and mobile phones UGH
By canarybird on Sun, 30/12/2007 - 1:07pm
Really I do have a great interest in the i-phone and watched a report about it on German television recently, however to be quite honest I have difficulty in using a normal mobile telephone so what would I do with an i-phone.
My phone has multi functions and because my phone broke down three months ago I bought the same phone again but this time for half the price and all I can really do with it is make phone calls and send messages - the introduction booklet does not help at all.
I used to love new technology but what to do when you can't even use one tenth of the facilities so how would an i-phone make my life easier??

Good Question ...Well hmm what ever is on Iphone can never get on mobile but yea memory nowdays for mobile and iphones are the same.8GB.
now iphone got alot of features application that are useful and alot of fun too like about 30games on it you cant have that on mobile. then there are alot of dictionaries which are impossible on mobiles. and you have youtube too on iphone which you dont have on mobile.
now you have to be in a wifi area to use it fully. Qtel still doesnt have any configuration for iphone regarding GPRS MMS etc.
on iphone you can set you gmail and mac too.

DaRuDe - thank you ...Thank you very much, but I can hardly use my present mobile phone without a hitch, recently at 2 a.m. I got up and put it on the charger and accidently hit the button of a friend, which irritated them and that person came rushing over at 2.30 a.m. to see what was wrong lol.
In fact I just don't have the time nor the interest to sit down and read a manual that I can't understand anyway. lol

Darude ...>> Qtel still doesnt have any configuration for iphone regarding GPRS <<
GPRS works on iPhone. If you have registered with qtel for the service. Just use web.qtel in configuration without a username or password. It works for me.

Dont be fooled, be honest Darude ...Hi, i just saw this link now and i would like to say this:
It is a piece of garbage, dont be fooled with it, Nokia 95 8GB is much better than it for the following reasons:
1- the camera is a [this post has broken our guidelines by using bad language - you will be removed from QL if this continues]tt sorry to say that but it is nothing compared to the 5 Mega pixels of the Nokia, the iphone is only 2 mp with no flash even
2- you cannot use 3G or internet as it cannot be configured for mms or other type of software related to internet.
3- all facilities such as the weather forecast and other software cannot work here as we dont have this service available in Qatar thats why they locked it so no one can use it instead of the U.S
4- The battery goes flat quickly
5- One major stupid thing in it which is if you have something on your device and wana send it to others u cant !!!!!
6- you cannot use the phone as a portable memory as other mobiles do such as the Nokia 95 where u can use it as a mobile and an 8GB flash memory which is a very useful item for me
By the way this mobile is been made or created as a multimedia phone that depends on internet 24 hourse so you can enjoy it, and in the U.S AT&T are offering free internet access for these phones when it is sold.
plus other negative issues which cannot be explained here, if u need more details do not hesitate to contact me.

Qatar127 N85 and iPhone ... ...Both are made for different types of users. I am not trying to justify one is good over the other however I would like to clarify the following which you have stated.
2. Internet can be used on iPhone in Qatar thru any wireless access point.
3. All facilities like weather forecast, stocks etc work in Qatar and this is not locked.
4. The battery usage is reasonable.
5. You can send files and pictures thru your emails by using third party apps which are free.
6. The next version 1.1.3 is going to have the portable memory feature. ( The beauty of iPhone is that most of the new features can be added thru software without changing the hardware.)

qatman ...so u r sayng that it is possible to transfer my i-phone multimedia files to my PC by installing additional software on the phone?
wat is the average battery life currently?
can internet be accessed from the free wi-fi zones?
the version 1.1.3 which has portable memory feature will be a software upgrade? i.e users with 1.1.1 can upgrade to 1.1.3(wen its cracked) and use it as portable memory?
shukran!

By multimedia files if you ...By multimedia files if you mean the videos and Audio files, You can conveniently use iTunes to synchcronize your files with your PC in addition to your Contacts and calendar.
The apps I mentioned are to transfer files to others. In Nokia file transfer is very simple using bluetooth, but for some reasons better known to apple they have not activated bluetooth for all external devices.
I use my iPhone throughout the day and recharge it daily, I use the iPod feature to listen to music also.
I think internet can be accessed from free wifi zones, though I have not tried it personally.
You are right about 1.1.3 you will have the feature if apple includes it in this release.
