Bookmark feature to view new posts in a thread

Is it possible to put a bookmark feature in a thread to identify the posts I haven't read yet? In the forum thread list, next to each message are the words "3 new messages". But when I click this thread link and see the thread, it's hard to find the new messages. Could something be desinged to indicate which messages are new? This is epecially difficult with hot threads where there are 4 pages of posts and many new messages.

if its on the first page you could see a "new" tag associated with it.
for the rest of the pages just lookat the time and date.
