Legal Jobs in Qatar
Salam all!
I hope you're all doing well! I'm a British national and after completing my LLB and LLM in law and currently awaiting the completion of my Legal Practice Course, I'm really eager to start my legal career. It has always been my dream to work in the UAE and Qatar particularly strikes me as a place that I could realy see myself working.
I have tried the job site called Bayt but the website seems really skint on legal jobs. I understand that the legal jobs sector is incredibly saturated, especially at times like these so that might explain the latter defecit in jobs!
Nonetheless, I'm really excited about the prospect of working in Qatar. Ideally I would love to work as a trainee solicitor but I am also willing to work as a Legal Consultant or a similar position.
So essentially, I'm just wondering what the best way would be to go about applying for the aforementioned jobs in Qatar and generally any requirements I need to fulfill.
A big thank you in advance for all your help. All the best.
Regards,
Ghaz

Well, yes, the legal field ...Well, yes, the legal field here is saturated and it seems that the expat lawyers have several decades of experience and have been sent here by their companies.

Ah thanks guys! Well I've ...Ah thanks guys!
Well I've just started making my footsteps in the legal world so I won't exactly be competing directly with qualified lawyers (I hope!). I have some experience at various law firms but like I mentioned above, I'm newly part-qualified.
I'll keep hammering those recruitment sites you posted. Thanks again for your help.

best way to go about looking ...best way to go about looking for a job at a law firm is to find out which ones are based in qatar, try a few websites that rank firms like www.legal500.com and then apply directly to the firm - dont bother going through a headhunter - they arent much help.
and to tell you the truth people may say the market is saturated but i landed a job in Qatar during the recession - yes, the recession affected everyone, even Qatar - so dont go on word of mouth - finding a job is a numbers game - the more you apply the better your chances have - and if your fully bilingual in Arabic and English you shouldnt have too much trouble landing a job.
other than that - good luck...

Bah I've contacted a lot of ...Bah I've contacted a lot of Qatari law firms but to no avail. Either they have no vacancies or some have required me to be able to speak Arabic. I guess I'll have to keep on trying and expand my horizons beyond Qatar and to the U.A.E.

Hi.. ...totallylegal is the best site for international jobs,,,
as far as I know the private international firms are not hiring in Qatar,,,you must decide what yu wan tot do, and perhaps Saudi is the place to start, simply because it is a terrible culture to live in, but you seem to be an arab so perhaps you can adapt easily,,, it does have world class projects, and you can cut your teeth there,,,
It all depends,,,,
Or stay where you are and hang out a shingle like many of us did,,,

I'm not an Arab but surely ...I'm not an Arab but surely the Saudi culture can't be that bad?! I guess maybe its harder for women than it is for men. As long as the Saudi authorities aren't fussed about my car/tuning hobbies I don't really mind.
Thanks for the advice though!
