Well done Qatar on world education
DOHA, QATAR — Sheika Moza bint Nasser, wife of the emir of Qatar, has created a program that seeks to educate the 61 million children worldwide who have no access to formal schooling.
The Educate a Child initiative, which was announced at the World Innovation Summit for Education in Doha on Wednesday, has partnerships with five global development organizations, including Unesco and the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees. It seeks both to support new education efforts and to improve existing ones, especially those tied to getting more girls into schools.
The groups together plan to invest $152.6 million on 25 projects in 17 countries over the next three to seven years, with an emphasis on some of the world’s poorest communities, conflict zones and nomadic societies. These initiatives include “floating boat” schools that serve as both bus and schoolhouse for poor children in the flood-prone delta of the Bay of Bengal in Bangladesh and efforts to provide primary education for children in refugee camps in South Sudan.

Now this is an exemplary use of wealth for the good of humanity! No politics, no aim for personal gain, just the betterment of children of the poor.

Now I wonder if we could ...Now I wonder if we could educate the drivers on the Qatar roads and make travelling around that little bit safer. Wouldn't cost that much but save a lot, and with so many expatriates driving here, maybe some of this education would then filter back to their home countries later.

not enough schools in qatar ...I wish somebody would do something about opening New schools in QATAR there seems to be a huge shortage not enough schools for everyone we are from England and having contacted about 30 schools in QATAR no one has any places for our kids one is 17 and other 15 we decided to send them to CEDARS TUTORING SCHOOL doha which helps familys like us with no school places in qatar but found out that its gone into liquidation last week and needs money to reopen its doors. There is a huge shortage of schools in Qatar someone needs to help Cedars school/tutoring centre reopen its doors again.

I don't know ... it seems a ...I don't know ... it seems a bit drastic.
True, helping the humanity is a tremendous selfless gesture, however, it is also vital to focus on improving ones' own country, BEFORE seeking world change.
There are A LOT of improvements needed in Qatar, a good example would be the lack of schools mentioned by /-a-t-/roseb ... we hvae that probelem too by the way, my 11 year old brother had to sit at home for 2 months due to no vacancies.
Another local issue would be the driving in Qatar, dangerous and terrifying. Roads, construction everywhere ... SAD.
So ...
Yeah ...
That's all I have to say really.
