Diesel is the best ...Diesel is the answer, todays diesel engine technology has push the envelope of performance in any diesel TDI(Turbo Diesel Injected) lots of torque and speed. Specially If your engine and transmission is made by Borgwagner. I do prefer automatic transmission for Qatar.
Gasoline cars always will out perform any Diesel in speed. Again Diesel technology has improve so much, that there is vehicles out there performing like a regular gas vehicle and are diesel.
I drive a diesel toyota land cruiser, and it just gives excellent performance and mileage for my money. I will only see the gas pump every 10 days, just driving 25 kilometers per day. In a gas vehicle you will visit the pumps at least twice in 10 days.

The Diesel engine can ...The Diesel engine can produce more torque, runs at lower rpm and therefore normally lives longer than a petrol engine. And it doesn't need sparkplugs! It is not very clean, though, unless equipped with all sorts of filters. It can be built to easily match the performance of a petrol engine, but it always will sound like a Diesel. There is a sentiment against Diesel engines.
