Even the rich in UK feel poor...

Even the rich in UK feel poor

A tenth of the British population are classed as "rich" - but do not feel it. More than 2.5 million households earn £88,000 (BD66,308) - almost triple the average household income of £33,000 (BD24,800) - take two foreign holidays a year and have more than £20,000 (BD15,070) worth of disposable annual income, insurer Hiscox says. However, 90 per cent of them do not consider themselves at all wealthy, according to a survey of 1,000 professionals. So how do you measure up? Are you:

A home-owner living in the southeast? A professional worker with an income of £50,000-250,000? See yourself as "no longer ordinary, but not yet extraordinary"?

Have surplus cash, but are not ostentatious in what you buy? Britons, however, say they would need to earn around £150,000 (BD113,025) per household, have paid off their mortgage, own more than one property or a holiday home and send their children to private school before thinking themselves "well-off".
