How many months salary is your car?
Just a bit of fun...
I am curious to know what part of their income people spend on their cars.
You needn't mention anything more than how many months worth the car is... ie. don't mention the price of your car or your salary...
To make sure that we are all on the same scale, we will consider the gross salary (ie. includes everything like basic salary, housing allowance, allowance etc.)
Example :
Lets assume your basic is 15000Qar per month and your benefits and housing allowance is 10000QAR. So your gross monthly salary is 25000Qar. If your car is 75000Qar, the your car is three months worth of your salary.

Just wondering ...If one is on long term project work here but not on RP basis, can he get a loan to buy a car? If so wats the maximum loan one can get and wats the repayment period?

I guess you don't fall in to that school of thought or otherwise you wouldn't be trying to open the wrong one!
But I must confess it happened to me once... I came back after shopping and then I was shocked cos there was a bad dent on my car which wasn't there when I had left it... looked like a case of hit and run... I made a hue and cry and created a real scene asking if anyone had seen the perpetrator of the crime and noted the number... After I had created enough of a scene, I saw my car... parked just one car away from the car I had mistaken to be mine
It just so happened that someone with a bad dent parked his car which was the same model and colour as mine and then parked it very close to mine...

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ...Still I am not getting a response to my querry. I am renting now and rimbursed by the company. So If I can get some answer to my qyerry I would get my own car and the reimbursement for the Car rental can go towards the monthly payment for the Car.
Any help peeps??? Couldnt get a Z4 from the Car renter and company wouldnt reimbursed me if i rent a Z4 LOL! SO best is buy the Z4 and charge it as the same rental for my TIIDA. Heheheheheheheh

Now we all know how many new Benz S500s and BMW 750s there are on the road. They are atleast 500000QAR and upwards...
Now assuming that these people too spend 6 months worth, that means you are looking at people who earn atleast 100000QAR per month
If these people like most of us spent only one month of their earnings worth, that means they earn 500000QAR a month!
Now I knew all along that people are making that kinda crazy money... but what really blows me away is how many people in Doha are making that kinda money!

hashin - so many ...So many people are over their heads in debt so I think it is safe to assume that most people are either paying on hire purchase or bank loans.
I knew one Qatari who took QR300,000 for a loan for his car and was racing it along one of the roads and crashed it to the point of no return.
No money, no car, no insurance payment left with only debt of QR 300,000 so not worth it in my opinion.
Pay cash is best then if something happens at least your are not in debt for any damage.

300000 up in smoke! sheesh! ...Yup... you are right that we cannot make the same assumptions for the Qataris. I think the feedback here applies only to expatriates. Expatriates like us see their stay here as temporary and would be hesitant to spend too much money on their car which they may need to sell off any moment if they have to leave the country. The Qataris on the other hand would not mind spending a larger part of their income on comforts here in Qatar because... this is home for them...
Also it does not make sense to buy an expensive car against a loan considering how the interest on the loan keeps adding whereas the value of the car keeps depreciating....

Price of Second hand car ...There's a lot of price range for the cars here in Qatar. It depends on the brand and kilometers travelled. You will see a difference even with same model and year make. Therefore I would ask what will be the ideal price range based on year make or kilometer? Has anyone come up with a table matrix with brand/make and price for comparison. I guess this will be helpful for the would be buyer of the used car.

Generally ...I have two cars
the first now is half salary, the 2nd is 6 times..
I think generally most of the people here have two cars, cuse if one is out of order, or service time,..you'll eat dust if you don't have the 2nd one.
Also, generally prices of cars here is very high,..even higher than the gulf countirs..
also,generally repairing of cars here is like hell
also,generally your car can make many times of its price if you want to sell it as spare parts..!!
generally there are many cars in this country....
