i live here in qatar last 2 years but i do not feel any distinction from beginning

2 years is not enough time to really get a good sense of the place. I have been here 6 years and SO much has changed it would make your head spin. I KNOW it's booming, but it has slowed down quite a bit in the last year or so.

Yup I agree with you but for me I feel relaxed here in qatar

Its not just inflation johnson.

Supply is much more than the demand. The commercial and residential spaces built is not able to get buyers. Rent has fallen by 30% atleast. None are able to pay back their bankloans. Almost 5000 appartments are ready tp occuppy and none wants it. New towers in west bay is all set , who is gona occuppy all those?..

Check with one of the leading chocolate suppliers. The manager there thinks Qatar is really booming and he wants out of the world target from his salesmen

When they say or it is reported that there is GLOBAL economic crises...they mean GLOBAL!!!

THAT means that Qatar is NOT immuned from the crisis because it is on this planet.

Of course Doha is feeling the pinch!

I have only been in Qatar for a couple of months now, I do think its intentions are correct but I think its unorganized. Also having such a large amount of ppl working that ARE NOT from the country.. The Qatari money is leaving the country. Think about it... Qatar pays well, many people from other countries come here work as much as they can save up as much money as they can and go back home. Money is leaving the country. I can be completely wrong but thats how I see it. I heard theres only 200k Qatari's here... and theres A LOT more than that from either India, phillipines, US, England, EVERYWHERE actually...

Yeah dont get me wrong I love the US.. im American myself lol but I just feel that there is not enough CASH FLOW in the country. First of all its all monopoly... which is horrible for the country... second of all it takes like 4 YEARS to build a building.. now im not sure about that but basically EVERYONE I know here told me the same. Which means that the workers are MILKING the company they work for. A building that could be up in a year or 2 takes them 4-5 years... thats milking the system. That money is not gonna come back. But all in all qatar is doing much better than most of the countries on earth. The rulers here are motivated in making this country amazing and I believe they are doing a good job.

i can't tell right now but as they say there are new developments..

Qatar is a rich country with great economy .

just because of the world economy crisis and the middle east specially Dubai in a bad shape - Qatar is going slow and smooth hoping the economy to old shape within few years .

There is no doubt that Qatar is booming but things are a bit slow .Cant you see the developments around ??????

I came here just 3 weeks ago. I can't say anything of course, but it seems that Doha is growing very fast. I work in IT, and I am curious about what chances a guy has to invest money HERE and doesn't want to leave Qatar for a long time.

i think boomimg is dependent upon the governoment policy bcz qatar is one of very reach country in world .qatar is now under construction in every stage if they want to make in name in the world like UAE its big chance to governoment to boost these sectors and get rid of this recceion which they can

All I am missing is nightlife, but just because I am far from the center and I have to use a taxi or something..

I would not use the word booming. But definitely business is doing great here. My company's profit is still increasing on quarterly basis and also compared with last year. My company has business all over the Gulf states and Qatar is on the top of the list. We are talking about tens of millions of dollars.

If you compare with rest of the world I am sure it is much better off excluding China and India. It can very easily beat all western countries in terms of growth of economy. Qatar pays you well that's why you will see lots of westerners here.

Companies that have put their money on real estate are losing money in one shape or another. It includes all real estates businesses and Banks. It is very sad to see those large building either constructed or under construction with no occupant or potential occupant.

At the sametime I can see companies are investing in expensive equipments but they are not investing on their human resources training. They believe that with new technology hire new person and get rid of person with knowledge of old technology. So you will see lots of people are leaving this country and no one is counting how many are joining. This leads to increase in population.
