Still a little in the dark about cars in Qatar

Hi all,
I've looked around this site, and still have questions about the costs of cars in Qatar. I *may* be taking a job there which offers a car allowance of (the equivalent of) US$750/month, which I think translates to just under 3000 QAR. Assuming I use this just for car payments (and pay insurance out of pocket), what kind of car would I be able to afford? I've read that Qatari bank branches will only finance a used car if it's 3 years old or "younger." I'm guessing that a nice little econo Toyota would be well within my budget (please tell me I'm right about this much!). But I'd like something that's at least a little on the sporty side. Is leasing a good idea (even if you're planning on being in Q for, say, 5 years)?
Thanks!

Leasing a Mitsubhi Nativa ...Leasing a Mitsubhi Nativa is QR 4500/month. Buying a new one through a bank installement is QR 1830 a month for 5 years without any down payment.
Compare yourself.

Hi Meta ...With that allowance, I am sure you can go for the following:
HUMMER H2 - 4 Wheeler
Cadillac Escalade
GMC YUKON DENALI
GMC Acadia - It can be what you are looking for, i think . City driving, and a bit sporty.
SUBARU TRIBECA - Compact AWD Vehicle, Economy, premium, and beautiful

Meta! ...5 years leasing is like buying the car for that car rental company.
If you take a car loan from bank and pay for it monthly, you will find yourself owning a car at your 5th year in DOHA, and you will be able to sell it afterwards.
All the best!

Thanks, now question two ... ...Thanks for the replies. One more thing (I think): I'm guessing that hybrids aren't particularly popular in Q, given the absurdly low cost of fuel there, but I want one. Do you think I'll have any luck finding a new one (preferably a Lexus)?
Thanks again.

Just what I was looking for, thanks! ...Great! I haven't found any available hybrids at that website yet, but I'll survive. I do think it's a shame that some of the more updated versions of some models aren't available in the Middle East (according to the website, at least). Again, I'll survive.
You've all been very helpful. Many thanks!
