Behavioural Comparisions

jervis's picture

Humans are the only creatures that do a lot of things Animals dont. Why do we base human behaviour on what Animals do if we are the more intelligent species?

Really? You are not a zoologist then or an anthropologists. I think you need to clarify your statement if you want some sensible answers.

Would you believe this thought struck me reading the post on Cows milk? Take that behaviour for example. Its not the only one.. but Im trying to figure out, if we are intelligent, have the ability to reason, use tools, appreicate abstracts like art and music, build structures ... why then is what we do compared to the 'Natural behaviour' of animals? (to start with.. more to follow)

Not only imitate the behaviour. People worship a cow. Others idolise a snake. Some prays to a dragon. I like black dog meat.

aadil that is not actually a stupid comment.... plants exhibit similar chemical responses to injury that animals do

Youre right about plants responding to injury. Have read that some trees emitt a high frequency 'cry' while being cut down.

Coming back to the topic though. I can understand why the make the comparisions. Any form of understandings is good, I grant that. However we are unique in our environment.
Comparisions to certain forms of social behaviours I can see.
Again I have to question research that states I behave like a monkey coz my DNA has about 98% the same composition. If the remaining 2% makes us so different from the apes how do we compare?
