Wait till the police knock at your door and tell you your child has been wiped out on a Thurday evening late by a speedster who is not intimidated by the thought of a QR5000 fine like the rest of us. For my part, those cameras are my friends.

The theory says it's a good thing. The application has proved that without human judgment of an offense, it becomes a moral offense. Yes the lack of policeman judging weather the offense really deserves the fine or not, we have ourself the most significant symbol of these being money printers, and a spectacular moral offense that doesn't seem to bother people so much...
Oh and... If they mapped out the different places in Doha where accidents occur more often than others, and where speed is determined to be the true cause of a crash (and not some dude not paying attention) and put cameras there, then I'd say cool... but they just place the cameras wherever they'll make more cash... It's all about cash... And that's not just for Qatar, any country such as Britain is as guilty for such an outrage...
When a cop arrests you and judges your traffic offense as a true danger to other road users, than please by all mean, fine, put in jail, slap wrist whatever it takes to remove dangerous elements from the road. But these rather impose a robotic driving style...
