Brazil and England friendly football match
I had a deep thought before buying the match tickets, I was reluctant because I’m going with my wife and 3 years old child “who likes football”. We are going there to spend quality time, and share this experience together. Through TV, I saw in families attending such events to cheer and have fun, but I never saw the same in Middle East. That is the reason behind my hesitation.
Do you think that such matches are suitable for families? Shall I expect harassments?
Overall, it is a matter of culture, and I hope that I will not regret this experience.

Why would you get any harrassment? Football is a family game where pople go to watch the game. Even football games in the Uk are suitable for families-so In Qatar it will be even more so. Qatar is very family orientated.Just go and enjoy and don't worry. The Al Sadd vs AC Milan game had a great family atmosphere.

I love life in Qatar ...Thank you guys for your responses, actually I feel safe in Qatar more than any other country I lived in ever.
Maybe because of the bad experience I had somewhere else not far from Qatar, I expected the worst.
newqatari, it is my pleasure to have you on board with me, but man, I only got the 50QAR tickets… so you may have another thought afterall… :)
I want to color my face with both country’s flags… so I will cheer both team’s goals :)
It’s gonna be a wonderful game

Oh dear.. ...I think someone has been listening to a little too much 'media hysteria'. Stay in your houses the Hooligans are coming...lol Seriously, theres more chance of you getting getting trampled by kids than meeting a mythical 'hooligan'...enjoy it, things like this dont happen in Qatar too often.,
notnapster said
You never know, they might ...You never know, they might have reserved an entire section for women and families. If they can do it in a movie theater, I think they might do it at the football too.
Anyways you don't need to be worried as there will definitely be a lot of plainclothes cops in the crowd for crowd control and security.

Should be ok ...I really think theres no problem here for families.... Its Qatar man not Europe.... Even though its gonna b a lot of Brits, here theyll have to behave....
Cant wait for tha game... C yall there...
/-a-t-/dawestsides, man it says u can bring tha camera, just use it for personal, not publish them nowhere....
/-a-t-/mainaliji- any shopin mall, if there are still any left...

Secret1 ...WTF....please explain the 'even though its gonna b a lot of Brits' comment.
Do you get out much?
flyer said
Matty ...don't get personnal, secret1 is just stating a reality: who are the ones in Europe that always create troubles in games, in and outside England? This is well know. Why is that? Alcohol my dear. I like to drink too, but in a moderate way. Average brit's behave like drunks wherever they go. You just pay the price for your brothers...

mattyhardinglower, the mere ...mattyhardinglower, the mere fact that you've chosen to respond with such filth is indicative of the lack of respect nor etiquette for the local culture. couldn't you have chosen your words better than this. the english hooligan fans are globally notorious for being drunks, chaotic and disruptive during and post football matches so this shouldn't have come as a surprise to you.
i must admit that secret1 should have also been politially correct and not used 'brits' to brand an entire populace but i'm sure it wasn't intended to be offensive. your response is inexcusable and certainly not commensurate with his minor slip.
suggest you retract your words and send an apology to the entire thread.
To HDY and everyone on this thread, go out an enjoy the match...it's going to be safe, secure and an overall family event with some great surprises as Qatar is known to do...the football experience is about to be given a new name 'Qatar' style.
thanks.

Your right .. ...the last part of my comment was an angry reaction and unecessary. Its deleted and I apologise.
However some of the comments were generalising, sweeping and racist. 20 -30 years ago the English league was plagued by football violence. Today, most of Euorpe have far worse football related violence than the UK, Poland and even Secret1's home city Belgrade have seen some unbelivable scenes in recent years. The fact you talk this way shows you dont truely know what your talking about.
mystic1 said
on behalf of the entire ...on behalf of the entire thread, thanks for the apology. i agree with you about the excessive violence throughout european football and as i said, branding an entire people because of some isolated group's behavior is foolish. enjoy the match and all the best.

Sorry for the late reply..... ...To all who got pissed off by my massage.... I say this from experience, and i am not aiming just at British or in this case fans of England, far from it.... as MattyHardingLower said, i come from a city/country which has seen more than its fair share of violence and hooliganism, on football games.... I was just stating the fact that there are gonna be a lot of British/England supporters, me in this case being one of them, who come from that kind of environment, and know to get out of control. Here, we all, Europeans are gonna have to behave a bit better than what we are used to.... freedom which we had in our home countries will not be the same here. The fact that i mentioned Brits, is just bcoz England is playing (ok i should have said England), and they are by far the most in number here, nothing else! i am going for the great atmosphere, great football and to support England, as a team that i support the most after my home country team SERBIA. C ya all there!

My Experience ...I have seen many Football matches in Qatar. I am 99.99% sure that there will be no problem. I have gone with my friends and my own kids. For me Qatar is among the few safest place on earth with/without family.
Eversince we are here (last 5 years) neither me nor my wife have ever been commented privately and publicly. This is the beauty of Qatar. Here there are more moral, social, ethical, and cultural values then anywhere in the world. I have worked and lived in 5 different countries. If I were you, I would have gone with my 3 year old kid and wife. If you are that worried then go by yourself this time and when you are confident enough then go with your family next time.
Have Fun!!!

England ...I do not think there will be any trouble at the match. It is a friendly which means that the result does not matter, and I would be surprised if many fans travel from the UK, as it is an expensive and long journey. England to win 4-0

I'm thoroughly looking forward to flying out on Thursday and people can rest assured that England fans these days are far removed from those of 20 years ago. We're a decent bunch nowadays :-) Rich
