I'm so excited Xmas is Coming!
Now that the shops have started selling christmas decorations it is really starting to feel like that time of the year again. Peace and love to all mankind, (especially the people of the book) and a jolly happy time to be had by all.
However we must remind ourselves of the true meaning of Xmas and not just get lost in drink, food and merriment. Father Christmas died on the cross for our sins and we should never forget the sacrifice he made. The fact that due to the reserection he came back to life to deliever presents all around the world for one day a year, should not mean we forget the pain and suffering he endured at the hands of the awful Israelis in Palestine.
So celebrate the death of Father Christmas in the traditional way, with a mince pie, a crucifix with an angel on your tree and a large brandy. God bless Santa Claus...

The most moving Christmas I ever experienced was ...after I became a Muslim and took a Christian friend to the Midnight Christmas Eve Mass at St. Mark's Cathedral in Venice. There were several of us Muslims in the group and I confess we all saw how much the Christian's spiritual beliefs meant to them at that magical moment through their music, the auspicious Cathedral itself and lovely art embellishing it, and in the deep faith we saw among the worshippers.
Hope all my Christian friends will enjoy the Christmas season.

I suspect -- but could be wrong -- that drunkenness is ...frowned upon. I was raised a Christian in the Bible Belt and while I can't say that there was the strict prohibition on alcohol that we see in Islam, definitely drunkenness was not acceptable. I remember stories from the Old Testament that showed the consequences of drunkenness.

I'm a Muslim, I read the Bible, and it condemns drunkenness and its effects. Maybe for that same reason some of my Christian friends abstain.

That's because wine was safer to drink than ...dirty water. It was commonly mixed with water (1/3 wine to 2/3s water) in ancient times and even given to children and pregnant women. The wine did not have a high alcohol content but enough to kill bacteria.
