which is better SONY 40"LCD / TOSHIBA 42" LCD / SAMSUNG 42" Plasma

mga kabayan help naman. i've been roaming around Doha to find out kung alin ung mas maganda sa mga tv n pwede kong bilhin. the problem is that every mall/shop na napuntahan ko, magkakaiba sila ng sinasabi plus ung ung HD booster(tama b) na ginagamit nila sa mga shops, syempre malinaw pero pagdating sa bahay di na ganun kalinaw diba. as of yesterday, sa huling shop na napuntahan ko, eto na ung mga nako-consider ko SONY 40"LCD / TOSHIBA 42" LCD / SAMSUNG 42" Plasma. now, pls help me decide which on is better. lahat ba sila pwede iuwi sa pinas? sabi sa carrefour SONY/TOSHIBA lang daw ang pwede iuwi sa pinas kasi ung samsung kelangan pang ipa-rechannel kaso di naman ganun kadali. sabi naman sa virgin pwede naman daw iuwi tapos mas maganda daw samsung kasi ung mga parts na ginagamit din sa SONY at sa ibang brands is supplied by SAMSUNG. 1MP lang lahat to kasi di daw adviseable ung full HD kasi pag un daw ang binili mo, kelangan mo pa bili ng player na HD rin tapos kahit full HD ung tv mo at ung player mo,wala ring silbi kng hindi blue-ray ung dvd mo which cost 3x the price of normal original dvd. di ko na maintindihan. pls help naman o.

for quality and budget i ...for quality and budget i would go for samsung.
if you would notice, comparing the quality of sony that are made in japan and not, there's a big difference in their picture quality.
plus don't believe on what the salesman in carrefour are saying. a friend of mine did some business back home, he was doing a buy and sell of samsung tv's and it is working 100% back home, he has even one installed on their home for their would be customer to see. they told me that even with the tax, frieght and crate charges it is way cheaper here to buy than buying it back home :)

yes those electronics that ...yes those electronics that are made in korea now are reliable.
during the "end" of korean war, a lot of countries like japan (incl. the Philippines) have helped them to get back on their feet. thus the transfer of japanese technologies to korea in every aspect i.e. auto, electronics.... to name a few

Kung ako tatanungin mo, ...Kung ako tatanungin mo, since you are planning to send the unit to the phils, i suggest dont get a plasma as these units consume electricity a lot more than the LCDs considering yung presyo ng kuryente sa atin today. plus, these units require professional help during installation kasi masyado sila sensitive (kaya its not advisable to ship plasma units). kung resolution kasi ang titingnan mo Plasma are a bit vivid than the LCDs especially pag dim ang light sa room pero pag normal viewing lang at moderately lighted ang room the LCDs looks more vivid than the plasmas. one more thing mas mabigat ang plasma sa LCD.
between Sony and Toshiba: Go for Sony (maka sony kasi ako eh) - I already bought one and it's very good.
I hope nakatulong ako.

I am not Kabayan but I will give my 2bits .
Good LCD is based on 2 things:
1. The Resolution (could be 1080, 760, or lower also)- Best is 1080!
&
2. The Refresh Rates ( could be 4ms, 8ms or 12ms)- Best is 4microSeconds or lesser!
Not the BRANDS!
Most 1080 pixels LCDs are the latest and have less than 4 sec refresh rates, but still check.
Also it should have HDMI & PC connectivity !
I guess it would be better to have a 1080pixel 37 inch LCD than have a 42inch LCD with bad 760 resolution images!
And Dont even think about Plasma TVs!

Samsung LCD.. compatible sa ...Samsung LCD.. compatible sa lahat.. Sony is overrated.. Toshiba is overpriced..
Tungkol sa re-channel.. di mo na kailangan pare-channel ang samsung, ganun din ang sony/toshiba unless na sa Japan mo binili..
Meron akong sony 48" at samsung 42" pero mas maligaya ako sa samsung ko..

Two of my villa mates sent ...Two of my villa mates sent brandnew Samsung LCDs to the phils last year lang when they received their bonuses. but both of them were disappointed kasi same experience nila, that is, the unit gets too hot very fast - which is unusual. kaya both of them were forced to buy A/C for their room as well.
As for my unit which is sony i've tried using it for 8 hours straight pero warm lang siya di pa kami naka A/C nun at normal room temp na yun, im not really sure kung coincidence lang nangyari sa mga villa mates namin pero i didnt took the risk. kasi before ok na sana sa akin ang samsung but i changed my mind after hearing that to my villa mates.

My Choice.... ...you said some parts of sony are supplied by samsung...
actually you're right. Samsung has invested so much in their research and development department, so when they came up with the latest technology for Tvs, Sony just bought the technology from them rather than doing their own research. That's why both have the same quality...
So for the same quality but much lesser price...I'd go for samsung.
