Driving in Qatar
When I met my friend recently I asked "how are you"? He replied me "No fines". It was embarrassing me as it was the first ever reply I got from anybody in my life. I asked him what he meant, as normally one would expect a reply "I am fine" or "good".
I received a pat on my back and a reply that he had a marathon drive in Eid holidays in Qatar from Al Khor to Messaieed and from Doha to Dukhan for outings, meeting friends and shopping etc. etc. He was not even fined once as he did not violate any traffic rules during his marathon driving. As there were no fines he replied to me "no fines" instead of fine.
Now days in Qatar, one is fine if he doesn't get fines because of the violation of traffic rules. Rules existed before and are now made stricter by imposing hefty fines and penalties. It is good move by the government to reduce accidents and control reckless driving.
I congratulated my friend for his safe driving and his humor.
Please do not violate traffic rules and have a safe journey and enjoy driving.
