I miss the opportunity to visit Cambodia, because after I finish touring north Thailand, I decided to visit Bankok, The Royal Palace, Floating Market, China Town and later Phuket ending my tour visiting the James Bond islands.
I'm planning to visit Vietnam or Cambodia.
Maybe If you wish to invite me to your country and you will be my tour guide it will be fine with me. Imagine two semi- locos, heavely doze in distilled spirits in the streets of your country. Lets not forget wearing shorts.
Superexpat
I made the correction, Thak you for the hint.

Most of my US travels did accomplished them while in the service, relocating from State to State, East Coast and West Coast. Every State I set my bags on the floor, I always was on the move to do some traveling in the weekends.
My last trip in September was the Philipines for 22 days of fun. I rented a mini diesel Van, got my travel book and pointed to my driver (a policeman) in the map, lets go here! of course petrol and food expenses was on me.
Every time I had my R/-a-t-/R bought me a round trainticket to some strange land. Specially when I was station in Germany. Why stay at home when there is so much to see?
In central America, I was station in the Panama Canal, Costa Rica was across Panama via the Panamerican Highway. I flew for my Honey Moon to Rio de Janeiro during Carnival time. I did visit New Brazilian Capital. The people are very nice but you had to watch carefully for the pick pockets thieves and peddlers.
I used to work for a small telecom company that had some contracts with the Mexican government, I was part of a team, we mostly work in the very South region of Mexico city very close to the Acapulco region for 3 months at a time. We were completly mobile installing there Fiber Optical cables Network.
In Africa, I lived there for four years straight. Imagine to have access for the minimum of a four to eight hour flight to those African majestic places. I did flew from Ethiopia to Thailand, my very first Asian country in my life.
I thought that Buddah was going to kidnap me over there.
I did Flew from Djibouti to Spain for a vacation of 20 days. I did split my time to stop at Ethiopia for 10 days. Nice place but some what depressing because of the poverty and misery. Did took a tour package for Kenya and Tanzania for three weeks. Lots of local flying with those bush hoppers and traveling in car and walking. Later I was assigned to Monbaza and I flew to Zanzibar for a two week R/-a-t-/R.
During my Sinai duty, We had the choice to visit Egypt or Israel. I did both at minimun cost, everything was free because of the UN status duty.
I did miss out the opportunity to work in Greenland or to work permanently in Alaska.

I thoroughly recommend Vietnam...from North to South you can literally see a country change and the sense of history you get is amazing.
Glacier hopping in New Zealand brought tears to my eyes in a spiritual way....the sheer beauty of nature.
Although I have been more times than I can count the Eiffel Tower never ceases to amaze.

My next big trip is going to be to Vietnam ...I have always wanted to go there since the end of the war -- which initiated me as a peace activist. I love Vietnamese culture and food, and I want to see how a country recovers from the devastation of a long war. Plus I have been supporting some projects there and would like to see how I can get more involved.
I have been to a lot of places on Pope's list but would add a few:
Tikal, Guatemala (the largest Mayan Temple complex)
The National Place, Tenochtitlan, and the National Cathedral in Mexico City
Uxmal in the Yucatan (An Amazing Mayan site; and not nearly as crowded as Chichen Itza)
Cholula in Puebla, Mexico (a massive pyramid that has been overgrown and has a Catholic church built on the top)
Bonampak, Chiapas (Mayan site with amazing paintings still presrved)
The Great Barrier Reef of the coast of Belize.
Copan, Honduras (another Mayan site with fabulous temples and relief carvings)
Stonehenge
Bath, England
Salisbury Cathedral, England
Venice!!!!
The Florence Cathedral (the dome was a landmark in architecture and engineering)
The Matterhorn
Lake Geneva and its fountain
Interlaaken, Switzerland (that wonderful, charming town where the two truquoise mountain lakes meet)
Hot Springs in Karlovy-Vary, Czech Republich (the summer place of the Hapsburgs)
Petronas Towers, KL, Malaysia
The Temple of the Emerald Buddha, Bangkok

mmm nadt I never ...mmm nadt I never thought of Syria as a boring place! Did you try going to Aleppo? Or the moutains outside of dimashq where one can go hiking and visit the ancient tribes still in existance??
I have never really enjoyed the idea of visiting a place on holiday without experiencing the culture and way of life of the people. To immerse myself in their hardships and ease of living and infiltrate the mentalities of the people who live in those societies.
So I only have a wish list of where I would like to socially analyse.
A bedouin tribe where the people live very much the same way they did before oil wealth. (I really just want delicious recipes ;)
A bedouin tribe or village outside of jordon.. (and see petra while I'm at it)
Chinese muslim communities. To see how we as muslims can ease the hardships of these people. (goal is to learn chinese after classical arabic)
To sit with the scholars in Qatar and gulf (So many good scholars) And how rich to experience people who have tried their best to refine Islamic manners. (something I endeavor too InshAllah alahumma ameen)
To visit somalia, sudan and other areas of africa. Perhaps helping to set up some family help organizations. And give dawah.
India because the culture is so rich!
Pakistan because of all the corruption there! I am very interested in learning how people live and function on a day to day basis here. I have heard that one needs to bribe everyone from the tax man to the telephone company. Also I find pakistanis some of the most hospitable in the world. Even more so than arabs. This greate interests me.
LOL I'd love then after all that to go back to America and analyse them! Then the british and europeans! And then the back to the Arabs starting from turkey on over.
I know I know .. very boring and a bit off topic.. I just have not been to so many interesting places as the rest of you! And wanted to put something.
