Taliban blame Blackwater for Peshawar blast
ISLAMABAD (NNI) – Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan chief Hakimullah Mehsud has blamed the controversial American private firm Blackwater for the bomb blast in Peshawar which killed 108 people.
Hakimullah Mehsud told media that if Taliban can carry out attacks in Islamabad and target Pakistan Army’s Headquarters, then why they should target general public.
He claimed that American security agency Blackwater and Pakistani agencies are involved in attacks in public places to blame the militants.
When asked that the people also think that the militants are involved in such attacks, the Taliban leader was quoted as saying, “Our war is against the government and the security forces and not against the people. We are not involved in blasts.”
Azam Tariq, the Taliban spokesman, who was accompanying Hakimullah, warned that those media organisations could be targeted which are defaming Taliban.
Information Minister in Northwest Frontier Province Mian Iftikhar Hussain and the Pakistani Army spokesman Major General Athar Abbas had blamed militants for the Peshawar blast, saying that the militants are facing defeat in South Waziristan tribal region and are now targeting the people.

read carrefuly ...Taliban fight against government and militry force and they do admit that but not against the general public but again, i am not support taliban as suicide bombing never accept in any matter even if they use against the goverment or militry force, if they have any conflict they shold come forward and discuss, i know its sounds funny but peace is the solution and discussion will bring back peace in our country. Guys, remember, USA support Taliban in Afghan - Resia fight and that time they called them as HOLY WARIOR but now they are extrimist.......its funny naa

Anteeca ...The US didn't support the Taliban against Russia. They supported OBL and the Northern Allaince. The Taliban came out of that hell hole after the Soviet invasion.
And I find it ludicrous that you actually BELIEVE anything the Taliban would say, as if they are a credible source. They have an agenda and they have made it clear their agenda is against your government and your military. Now if you don't support your government and military defending your country from a Taliban invasion then that is another matter.
Either way, the whole story is ridiculous but obviously the Taliban knows it doesn't take much to convince Pakistanis that they are innocent. lol

As I stated, the Taliban emerged out of that hell hole ...but my understanding is that the mujahideen were primarily the Northern Alliance.
Either way, I think the US should have left Afghanistan to be taken over by the Soviets back then and maybe there would be less trouble for the world today. After all, had you become a part of the Soviet bloc you would be in better shape than you are now. :-P

absolutely navdak ...I wish my country would just stay at home and use our resources on domestic affairs. I have no doubt that we couldn't resolve our energy needs if we put our minds to it. The problem is that our political and military policies have been controlled by Capitalistic interests for the benefit of a few ultra rich.
I would prefer a world where my country (the US) didn't get involved anywhere outside its borders. Let other people handle their problems and messes and make sure we don't contribute to them -- that's my policy.

Oh Navdak, I have no problem admitting when my country has ...made mistakes -- and we have made MANY of them. I personally think the world was a better place when there were 2 so-called super-powers. It kept things in check better. My first preference would be that there would be NO superpower -- but I know my idealistic dream isn't likely to happen. :-)

During the Cold war era ...There was a time when the CIA did support the Hindu fundamentalists and the Hindu Extremist elements in India. Many people believe that the RSS and similar parties received huge financial aids from the US government covertly, to build up a radical Hindu party that could defeat the Congress led government which refused to come out of the Soviet Influence and become a US stooge!
Richard Nixon hated our Congress Primeminister Indira Gandhi and called her "an Old Hag" because she refused to liaise with him. Nixon knew that as long as India had true democracy it it could not be controlled by taking into confidence just one person. So he hoped to form a Hindu Fundamentalist Government similar to Taliban which would automatically move away from the Soviet block and lean towards the US. It could be so, that they figured out that The Shankaracharyya could become a figure like Mullah Omar. Thank God, it didn't work out! Although I believe that the US had no hand in forming the Taliban.

Interesting theory. ...Interesting theory. Blackwater was accused of underhand dealings in Iraq and was hired by the CIA to help with a secret program to assassinate top al-Qaeda leaders.
However, I would very much doubt that they have a hand in Pakistan. It would not surprise me though if the local internal security agencies were involved.

I can mention here one attack on a Member of Punjab Assembly in Bhakkar City. Investigations revealed that he was targetted by one of his rivals with the help of an extremist group from Waziristan.

PM: The Taliban were not an offshoot of the Northern Alliance, they were created in the religious schools on the Pakistan border by the Pakistani intelligence agency. The Northern Alliance was composed of the Tajik and Uzbek warlords in the north and was largely in opposition to the Pashtun southerners and completely opposed to the fundamentalist Pashtuns in the Taliban.

Taliban is a religious outfit and enjoys a fair amount of public support too. Government too needs public support to survive which it cann't get without demonizing talibans. Why not think otherwise and investigate the credibility of taliban's accusations?

neither im a great fan of Taliban (Afghan's) nor supporting them ...but this is the fact, that they were comparatively much better for Afghanistan, then the present Bastards.
Perhaps they were financially weak, but there were peace in almost 90% of Afghanistan.
In the last two years of their govt, they have almost banned opium production, where as todays allies are involved in drugs smuggling....

And I think the media does play dirty tricks with regard to ...those headlines, but also you have to consider that often these people feel their religion justifies such actions and they even do them in the name of upholding their religion. We should blame them for dirtying the image of our religion, as much as the media that goes along with it.
