Qatar Financial District
The project features an outer ring of 6 office towers ascending in a clockwise direction from 20 to 35 storeys in height, and an inner ring of towers, comprising of 3 office towers and a hotel tower ascending in a counter-clockwise direction from 31 to 50 storeys in height
Nobu-Doha

Client: Nobu/Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jaber al Thani
Designer: Rockwell Group
Completion date: Autumn 2010
Size: 26,000ft²

The new Nobu Doha is the second Middle Eastern venue for the world-renowned restaurant group. The freestanding, three-story restaurant will be located on a peninsula on Doha Bay, at the Four Seasons Hotel Doha. The prominent position of this new, dramatic structure will anchor the northern end of the city’s grand Corniche. While exhibiting the iconic Nobu elements of natural, rich materials that reflect the cuisine and rural Japanese roots of Chef Nobu, this location will also reflect the specific history of Doha, and feature many one-of-a-kind art installations that Rockwell Group commissioned specifically for this project.

As the city is famous for pearl diving, Rockwell Group is referencing this past in many layers of the design. The lofty double-height main dining room is framed by woven abaca panels custom-made by the Philippine artist Ken Cobonpue. Featured throughout the space are end-grain wood floors, columns clad in white sea-shells and a field of spherical glass light fixtures of various sizes custom-crafted by the Canadian artist Ken Gangbar.

Jean Nouvel’s new building is part of a larger scheme commissioned by the National Council of Culture, Arts, and Heritage, which features the construction of a series of buildings and the remodelling of the Corniche, which will give the shoreline of the Bay of Doha a facelift.
The French architect’s tower, due to be inaugurated in 2010, is situated between the Corniche and the city centre and marks the landscape with a geyser-like form that rises above the water, echoing that of the Torre Agbar in Barcelona.
Indeed it shares the same circular plan, which is a sort of constant in Nouvel’s towers with an asymmetrically positioned structural core housing the circulation shafts. However, in the Doha Tower, this is constituted by a series of offset parallelepipeds instead of a cylinder, as in its Barcelona counterpart
Iceberg-Qatar

Plot area:200,000sq.m
A bold hotel and event complex,a symbol of the innovative spirit, economic strength and prosperity of Qatar,is planned for the gate between the east and the west. This exceptional building will serve as a landmark visible from afar. The 260m hotel tower with a shape inspired by arctic ice will accomodate 350 hotel rooms and 120 apartments as well as exclusive restaurants, cafes and bars.Next to the hotel complex,a massive 10-floor building will be built around a multi-functional arena for around five thousand spectators.Hallways, foyers and entrances are only just above sea level designed as if the water had cut crystal caves out of the iceberg. The building will accomodate a "winter theatre" with an ice rink, fifty suites with a view into the arena, and other attractions like an artificial ski slope and a winter zoo!
Lusail Twin Towers

Qatar National Hotels Company (QNH), the leaders in Qatar's hospitality industry, has announced plans for its 1.5 billion QR development in the Marina District at Lusail City. The twin towers will open in the largest and most innovative development of Lusail by the end of 2010.
The two 45 story futuristic design of the Lusail Twin Towers will include 2 floors dedicated to a shopping mall consisting of restaurants, a variety of luxurious shops, and a cinema covering an area of 31,000 square meters. The first of the twin towers offers a hotel of 720 king and twin rooms, 98 junior suites, 16 executive suites with an executive lounge and will feature a specialty restaurant. The second tower encompasses hotel serviced apartments with 1, 2, and 3 bedroom apartments overlooking the sea and a penthouse on the top floor.
“The Lusail Twin Towers covering an area of 48,500 square meters represents the next great expansion opportunity for QNH in Qatar,” said H.E. Sheikh Nawaf Bin Jabor Bin Jassim Al Thani, Chairman of Qatar National Hotels Company. “We are especially pleased that our presence in Qatar will also be covered within this new vibrant community and city development of Lusail which will dramatically change the economic and physical profile of Qatar for the better," he added.
Lusail is considered to be the new world leading extension to Doha, a city of meticulously planned urban development. Lusail will be the ultimate living experience for around 200,000 people, and is believed to be the true symbol of tomorrows Qatar.

What we should be more concerned about once all of them're built ......is if 'they' can fully pay all the contractors/subcontrctors upon completion of construction and not ask for a very high price of an office or space rent upon start of operation. LOL

2 newspaper reports come to ...2 newspaper reports come to mind...the 1st,a couple of days back, headline page 1 article in the Gulf Times about 10,000 new vehicles being registered every MONTH...& the 2nd in yesterday's Gulf News about the building frenzy in this town in the limited upper-end of the market while still very limited work in the affordable middle-income bracket...so all this fancy "financial district" business is fine but how about 1st putting in place a proper decent road network as befits a country with 10,000 new vehicles being added to the roads every month & one with no real public transport network to speak of?...how about some multi-storey car parks like the ONE built behind bank street?...& how about some good, affordable middle-income housing for the masses like you & me?...Barwa & Ezdan have both taken the initiative in this respect & kudos to them for delivering projects that are truly affordable yet good quality housing, surely if they can do it,others can...these are the needs of the moment in this town & they ought to be addressed first BEFORE going about this tower building frenzy...like the situation in West Bay currently...sure you have the fancy towers, but where are roads to get there WITHOUT being stuck in a jam for half an hour to cover a few kms. & once one gets to the towers & happens to be a visitor, where's the parking? an average 10 spots for an average 100 cars is not really addressing the issue don't you think?...so really, how are any of these fancy projects going to better the quality of life for the common man/woman in this town?...exactly,they're not...on the other hand,if they built more affordable housing, all those unfortunate to have had to send their families back home because they couldn't afford the spiralling rents will be able to bring them back,to live in new, decent, affordable housing...if they built a proper road network & multi-storey car parks, people wouldn't be in such a bad mood 'cos it took them the better part of an hour stuck in traffic to get to your office for their appoinment & another half hour or so to find parking...they're upset, they come in,make you upset & these bad vibes just spread like a virus...it's not just about the traffic & the parking...it's actually about improving the state of mind of the residents...happy people work better right?...now if only someone would tell that to the head honchos living in their bubbles on the 20th floor office with a view...
