How do you know it was a racist attack? I'd be surprised if they could understand someone with a Scottish accent.....

Until anything is proven you should not make such bold accusations.

At least such attacks in Europe are reported in the newspapers and the people are punished if the crimes are proven in a court of law, unlike some places I could mention....

because some one is attacked violently .Physical attack on a person is punishable every where ? and hurray to europe .......

I dunno, some people are just miserable, what can I say. We expatriates whine all the time about how we hate being treated inferior and how they locals and arabs alike are "barbaric, backward and uneducated" for behaving in such a manner with never a hint of physical violence.

Very true Brit, and I must applaud the Brit embassy for their stance.

I remember about 8 years a go a young Scot lad was at a party mouthing off and saying all sorts of nasty and vile things about the locals, to which one local met him in the bathroom and beat him severly.

As I can imagine everyone thinks the local got away with it but he did not. He spent 6 months in jail and was in turn sued by the Scot who got a rather nice settlement out of the whole thing. No embassy intervened nor any human rights agencies. For this, I applaud Qatar. ___________________________________________________

UK, being hassled a bit by a bunch of young guys looking for a phone number is a bit different than being physically assualted while standing in a queue.

Just for the record, I have been hassled by such young lads, and have had phone numbers left on my car and anytime I have complained to the police they have taken prompt action. In all seriousness, how much of a smack on the hands should you gove a young guy looking for a date? And please, dont tell me young lads dont hassle young ladies in the UK, thats just crazy.

Well I hope the two guys are caught and punished. It's good that the UK is taking a firm stance against hate based attacks. Unfortunately that probably won't stop them from happening anytime soon, but at least it's a start.

Well, we have to admit that Chav/ gang attacks are not limited to certain race or group. I guess the Qatari Guys should have been more careful when going to... an entertainment show. I assume a club ;)

The problem is not only when Scottish people attack Qatari people, the Problem is when people attack people for whatever reason!
This is to stress the fact that it’s not because you are Scottish that you attack Qataris! Any nationality, unfortunately, may attack other with any motive.
The problem is Universal, not owned solely by one nationality!

black,white,yellow or other races, they are all the same, we should respect each other, treat them eaqually, even though some of them are lack of knowledge or money.

Genesis, maybe we should start brutally beat up and racially abuse expatriates. How about this evening at the CC cinemas? :P

You are complaining about racism against Qataris but also promoting violence against people of certain professions. That doesn't make sense to some of us.
I wonder if you are as vigilant about racism in your own country.... I hope so because there is a lot of it here.

OS I think they do judge people on the colour of their skin here. Have you not seen Family Day at the popular malls in Qatar... I've never seen that in the UK even in Scotland!

it is a cycle. once you experienced racism from one's nationality you can't wait until they visit your country.

in that story qataris were the under dog just because they were out of their territory but i bet that won't happen here.

Racial attacks happening everywhere in the world irrespective of nationality.... but what had happened cannot be justified. So many Indian students facing the same in Australia and elsewhere..

UKeng I saw a similar incident in FFC some time back... a local guy was beating a cashier (Indian)...and this Indian guy took his chair and smacked his head hard and he fell down...and the other guys took this cashier from the sight of the other guy. Not everyone tolerate such treatments..The worst he could expect is to get deported...When I enquired the reason..the next counter guy told me that this local guy bought a pck of cigge and gave 500 riyals it was a Friday morning..and the cashier asked to wait few mints to give the change...and he abused him and this guy asked him to mind his language... and he started beating him... These are all isolated incidents... but nothing new here…
