What the Bible Says About Muhammad

An article of One Minute Messages, written by Brother Abdarraouf Shakir
According to the Bible, God said to Moses, on whom be peace: I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers; I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him. (The Holy Bible, New International Version, Deuteronomy chapter 18, verse 18). The prophet described in the above verse must have the following three characteristics: 1. He will be like Moses. 2. He will come from the brothers of the Israelites, i.e. the Ishmaelites. 3. God will put His words in the mouth of the prophet and he will declare what God commanded him. Let us see which prophet God was speaking of. 1. The prophet like Moses Some people feel that this prophecy refers to the prophet Jesus, on whom be peace. But, although Jesus (peace be upon him and all of God’s prophets and messengers) was truly a prophet of God, he is not the prophet spoken of here. He was born miraculously, and finally God raised him up miraculously. On the other hand, Muhammad is more like Moses; both were born in a natural way and both died natural deaths.
2. From among the Ishmaelites Abraham had two sons, Ishmael and Isaac (Genesis, chapter 21). Ishmael became the grandfather of the Arab nation. And Isaac became the grandfather of Jewish nation. The prophet spoken of was to come not from among the Jews themselves, but from among their brothers, the Ishmaelites. Muhammad a descendant of Ishmael, is indeed that prophet. 3. God will put his words in his mouth ‘Neither the content of the revelation, nor its form, were of Muhammad’s devising. Both were given by the angel, and Muhammad’s task was only to repeat what he heard.’ (Word Religions from Ancient history to the Present, by Geoffrey Parrinder, p. 472). God sent the angel Gabriel to teach Muhammad the exact words that he should repeat to the people. The words are therefore not his own; they did not come from his own thoughts, but were put into his mouth by the angel. These are written down in the Qur’an word for word, exactly as they came from God. Now that we know that prophet we must listen to him, for, according to the Bible, God says: ‘I will punish anyone who refuses to obey him’ (Good News Bible, Deut. 18:19). Jesus (on whom be peace) In the Glorious Qur'an The Qur’an tells us many wonderful things about Jesus. As a result, believers in the Qur’an love Jesus, honor him and believe in him. In fact, no Muslim can be a Muslim unless he or she believes in Jesus, on whom be peace. The Qur’an says that Jesus was born of a virgin, that he spoke while he was still only a baby, that he healed the blind and the leper by God's leave and that he raised the dead by God's leave. What then is the significance of these miracles? First, the virgin birth. God demonstrates His power to create in every way. God created everyone we know from a man and a woman. But how about Adam, on whom be peace? God created him from neither a man nor a woman. And Eve from only a man, without a woman. And finally, to complete the picture, God created Jesus from a woman, without a man. What about the other miracles? These were to show that Jesus was not acting on his own behalf, but that he was backed by God. The Qur’an specifies that these miracles were performed by God's leave. This may be compared to the Book of Acts in the Bible, chapter 2, verse 22, where it says that the miracles were done by God to show that he approved of Jesus. Also, note that Jesus himself is recorded in the Gospel of John to have said: ‘I can do nothing of my own authority' (5:30). The miracles, therefore, were done not by his own authority, but by God's authority. What did Jesus teach? The Qur'an tells us that Jesus came to teach the same basic message which was taught by previous prophets from God – that we must shun every false god and worship only the One True God. Jesus taught that he is the servant and messenger of the One True God, the God of Abraham. These Qur'anic teachings can be compared with the Bible (Mark 10:18; Matthew 26:39; John 14:28, 17:3, and 20:17) where Jesus teaches that the one he worshipped is the only true God. See also Matthew 12:18; Acts 3:13, and 4:27 where we find that his disciples knew him as ‘Servant of God’. The Qur’an tells us that some of the Israelites rejected Jesus, and conspired to kill him, but God rescued Jesus and raised him to Himself. God will cause Jesus to descend again, at which time Jesus will confirm his true teachings and everyone will believe in him as he is and as the Qur'an teaches about him. Jesus is the Messiah. He is a word from God, and a spirit from Him. He is honored in this world and in the hereafter, and he is one of those brought nearest to God. Jesus was a man who spoke the truth which he heard from God. This can be compared with the Gospel According John where Jesus says to the Israelites: ‘You are determined to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God’ (John 8:40).

The definition of qatar ...The definition of qatar living lounge says
'Chill out in the lounge. Hang out here with friends from Qatar Living and chat about anything unrelated to the more "serious" forum topics...'
SO whats the harm in discussing such topics. Agreed it will go unpleasant. Most of the topics that are covered will take a religious angle since you rae in a Muslim country.

I liked his ".i.e. Ishmaelites" ...No.1 Search for accommodation is our no1 priority it would be of much help if you could help us on that front.
No.2 We are not in a country where we could discuss these issues at ease.
No.3 We would like it if there is no religion comparision - "mine's better than yours"at least on this site

why avoid such discussions? ...religion is supposed to teach tolerance.
so even if we do decide to discuss on any religious subject......members have to show tolerance and respect for one another irrespective of religion.
its disrespect to a member's views that causes offence and then everything gets defensive and doesnt take long to get ugly.

The prophecy refers to who? ...No one is insecure about their religion, we all trust our religion,...everyone believes that they are in the right path even the Atheist. so, why to avoid such discussion?
was Mr. Tyler, is right that we just blindly follows our religion?

(God said to Moses(pbuh):
"I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee(Moses), and I will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him"(Deut. 18:18)
To whom does this prophecy refer? Neither Jesus(pbuh) or Mohammed(pbuh) is not mentioned here, you see, the most important words of this prophecy are SOOS JY IS!
(LIKE UNTO THEE) LIKE YOU-Like Moses!
*Moses had a father and a mother, Mohamed also had a father and a mother. BUT Jesus had only a mother and no human father.
*Moses and Mohammed were born in the normal, natural course, e.i. physical association of man & woman; BUT Jesus was created by a special miracle.
*Moses and Mohammed married and begot children but Jesus remained a bachelor all his life.
*Moses and Mohammed were accepted as prophets by their people in their very lifetime. BUT according to the Bible-HE (Jesus) CAME UNTO HIS OWN, BUT HIS OWN RECEIVED HIM NOT (John 1:11)
And even today, after 2006 years, his people-the Jews, as a whole, have rejected him.
*Moses and Mohammed were prophets as well as kings. By prophet i mean a man who receives Divine Revelation for the Guidance of Man and this guidance he conveys to God's creatures as received without any addition or deletion. A king is a person who has the power of life and death over his people. There are instances in the Bible of persons who were given gift of PROPHECY ONLY, but they were not in a position to implement their directives. BUT the Holy Prophet Jesus unfortunately belonged to this category.
*Moses and Mohammed brought new laws and new regulations for their people. As regards Jesus, when the Jews felt suspicious of him that he might be an imposter w/ designs to pervert their teachings, Jesus took pains to assure them that he had not come with a new religion, NO NEW LAWS AND NO NEW REGULATIONS
(mathew 5:17-18)
*Both Moses and Mohammed died natural deaths, BUT according to Christianity, Jesus was violently killed on the cross.
*Moses and Mohammed both lie buried in earth, BUT according to Christianity Jesus rests in heaven.
Jesus is not like Moses:
-According to Christianity: Jesus is a GOD, BUT Moses is not.
-According to Christianity: Jesus died for the sins of the world BUT Moses did not.
-According to Christianity: Jesus went to Hell for 3 days, BUT Moses did not.
I have just prove only one point out of the whole prophecy, proving the phrase "LIKE UNTO THEE" Like you, Like Moses.
The prophecy is much more than a single phrase w/c reads as follows "I will raise them up a prophet FROM AMONG THEIR BRETHREN like unto thee.
...FROM AMONG THEIR BRETHREN!
If Ishmael and Isaac are the sons of the same father Abraham, then they are brothers. "And so the children of the one are the BRETHREN of the children of the other!"
The children of Isaac are the Jews and the children of Ishmael are the Arabs...so they are BRETHREN to one another.
The children of Isaac are the brethren of the Ishmaelites. In like manner Mohammed is from among the brethren of the Ishraelites because he was a descendant of Ishmael the son of Abraham. This is exactly as the prophecy has it-FROM AMONG THEIR BRETHREN. There the prophecy distinctly mentions that the coming prophet who would be like Moses, must arise NOT from the "children of Isaac" or from "among themselves", BUT from among their brethren, THEREFORE..Mohammed was from among their brethren.
The prophecy proceeds further...AND I WILL PUT MY WORDS INTO HIS MOUTH...what does it mean when it is said "I will put my words into your mouth"?
you see, if i were to teach you any language about w/c you have no knowledge, and if i asked you to read and repeat after me, would i not be putting these unheard words of a foreign tongue w/c you utter, into ur mouth?
History tells us that Mohammed was forty years of age. He was in a cave some three miles north of the city of Mecca. It was the 27th night of the Muslim month of Ramadaan. In the cave the Archangel Gabriel commands him in his mother tongue IQRA! w/c means READ! or PROCLAIM! or RECITE! Mohammed was terrified and in his bewilderment replies I AM NOT LEARNED! The angel commands him a second time w/ the same result. For the third time the angel continues and Now, Mohammed, grasps, that was required of him was to Repeat! to Rehearse! And he repeat the words as they were put into his mouth:
-Read! in the name of thy lord and cherisher, who created
-created man, from a (mere) clot of congealed blood
-Read! and thy lord is most bountiful
-He who taught (the use of) the pen
-taught man that which he knew not. (SURA ALAQ HQ 96:1-5)
These are the first five verses w/c were revealed to Mohammed which now occupy the beginning of the 96th chapter of the Holy Qurán. The words (revelation) were actually PUT INTO HIS MOUTH, exactly as foretold in the prophecy under dicussion Deuteronomy 18:18.
Peace and blessings of God(Allah) be with us always....

Dont avoid the discussion. ...Dont avoid the discussion. but try to avoid comparison of religions. Is comparison really required. YOu dont need to convince Islam to tohers through comparing other religions.
Explain what is the essence of islam and its related points and live that way.
Living Islam is the best way to show others what islam is all about. Are we as muslims following the religion in its entirety? or do we pick and choose. Pick what we like and drop what we does not like?

And if you guys think, i posted an incorrect infos above, then i will stand to be corrected..i accept mistakes btw. BUT if you think i am right? then we should stop here now.
