Waiting for school placement

Hello, I've read several times people mentioning the long waiting lists for schools ... so I'm wondering what does one do during this waiting time? The child doesn't go to school? Homeschool? Or are there programs for this situation? Thank you!

English speakers from England ...English speakers from England do not use the word......it is uncouth and considered vulgar to use the word 'kid'....it is child or children....kids are baby goats......

Angelina, ...I really don't think using the word ( kid) is vulgar. I've also heard British friends use the term..

So we are speaking original ...So we are speaking original English now ?
I say we banish 'kid' and 'child' and use the term 'offspring' instead.
This is such an entertaining thought . I am going to call all my kids 'offsprings'. In that way I won't raise them ill bred , I will have taught them correct English and I will sound important and scientific to them , all the time .
Just a thought , why are some people who insist on using the most precise words , abundantly substituting endless number of points for full stops ? Is that precise
?

I am terribly sorry . I did ...I am terribly sorry . I did not know of your being native English .
So, this place where you hail from , is this a clause in your constitution ? :
"All our citizens may make unnecessary corrections wherever possible. "
I respect your rights . But , you might be behind the times a little here .
Languages evolve . Kid is a word that has now been recognized by dictionaries world wide . You may check it yourself .
And for the sake of the growth of this language of YOURS , do not hinder it's growth .

I think you also need to look at your placing of 'so'.....it is also incorrect and reflects the yanks language........

I have nothing against the British English, but I do have a problem with Ill bred people that make nasty comments.

more often than not ...People, from different cultures, would be using terms or phrases that may not sound good or considered as "vulgar" to other cultures or nationalities.
However, should we be stringent and critical of others for their use of "vulgar phrases"? Or should we just be forgiving and recognize that we are all different.
Remember that words, doesn't often sound bad. Its just how we link the term to a more dirty connotation that it become "vulgar".

No LIQ, I wouldn't go as far ...No LIQ, I wouldn't go as far as saying it's vulgar. It's more of a slang term and you wouldn't want it used formally, for example, a teacher saying it to my child. I remember when my son came home from school and said "I'm a kid, mummy"...my immediate response was "you're NOT a baby goat, you're a child".

Frenchies: don't let it bother you. If someone finds the word offensive, it's their problem, not yours. It's not offensive or vulgar in the UK, just not widely used formally.

Why cant people just read a post and answer accordingly instead of letting the whole forum know how low life poeople can be with their narrow minded opinions. I have travelled the world for 30+ years, mixed with every nationality imaginable (myself, I am a Brit) and the English language changes within cities throughout the world let alone countries.I have three Children/Kids/Brats/Spogs.. call them what ever, does it make me a communist, convict, slave or low life just because ONE person voicing TOO much of an opionion think so... THE TOPIC WAS...
