Horse back to Europe ...I believe that all horses in Europe need a 'passport' listing identification, microchip, vaccinations, results of blood tests, etc. Health requirements vary slightly according to the importing country. Transport is usually by air and is probably not cheap.

Glad I was able to help. The most important thing is to give yourself plenty of time and plan well ahead. The blood samples and certification have to be done strictly at certain times determined by the date of arrival at the importing country. This can mean a minimum of 30 days between the first sample and arrival in Europe. All this has to be slotted in with the pre-booked Cargo (Freighter) schedule and reception and clearance at the other end. It is a bit like doing a cryptic crossword and can be a headache if you are not experienced.
Horses travel well by air and quite a number travel backwards and forwards to Qatar during a year, usually by Qatar Airways or Lufthansa. If you can find an experienced agent, perhaps used by wherever you are stabling your horse, it could be worth putting the whole matter in their hands; advising you when to take samples, making the freighter booking, arranging a 'travelling groom' if required, perhaps even defraying some of the cost by sharing the usual 3-stall cargo pallet with the horse of someone else.
