Is he a Winston or a Winnifred?

When I used to read the Pooh books to my nieces I always used a deep, teddy bear voice for his character.

Actually, I really ought to know since I lived in Hundred Acre Wood where the stories were written!  (Hundred Acre Wood was, in fact, The Ashdown Forest in East Sussex, England.)
