The Qatar-Bahrain Friendship Bridge |

|
The Qatar-Bahrain Friendship Bridge shall further bolster the fraternal relations that tie the two peoples, as well as enhance exchange activities at social, economic, financial and commercial levels. Indeed, commercial exchange will gain yet another boost, thanks to the easiness of movements that will make transport even simpler for both peoples.
The project also will be a catalyst to several joint projects that will cover all economical sectors, thus promoting and advancing bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Bahrain. |

Project implementation:
Construction works will take between four and five years, starting from the signing of the agreement, dated 12 June 2006.
Total cost:
![]() |
The bridge will cost about US$ 2 billion, to be shared equally between the two countries. The Qatar-Bahrain Joint Committee has several choices as to how the bridge should function; some of which include the deployment of railways beside the road for the transport of passengers and goods, in which case the total cost will reach US$ 2.7 billion.

Bridge length:
The bridge is 40km-long and will start from Ras Asheireej in Qatar and end in the Askar village west of the Kingdom of Bahrain. It is a double-way and will consist of a number of bridges combined with roads constructed on dams. A mid-way island will be constructed to link the two parts of the causeway, with bridges covering 60 percent of construction areas, while debris works will cover 40 percent only, thus limiting environmental damages to the lowest possible

According to the memorandum ...According to the memorandum of understanding, which was signed Sept 30, 2007, construction is to start 'within 7 months' and will last '48' months.
Well... it's been 6 months since then... any signs of construction?
