Man given 15 years for rape, blackmail

DOHA • A higher criminal court has sentenced a man to 15 years in jail for blackmailing and raping on several occasions a female employee of a beauty salon. A woman accomplice of the convict, who helped him to commit the crime, walked away with a lighter sentence of five years. The court has ordered the duo to be deported after they have served the sentence.

The duo posed as brother and sister and succeeded in convincing a beauty salon manager to depute a woman staffer to "their" house to massage their ageing mother. They promised a handsome sum for the job. The unsuspecting manager accepted the offer and asked the victim to pay a visit to the house for massaging the old woman. But when she reached the house she was surprised to find that there was no one except the convicts. She also soon realised that the woman aide of the convict had suddenly vanished in thin air. Smelling foul play, the salon worker wanted to leave.

But the convict told her if she won't listen to him and satiate his lust she would be deported since he was a senior state security official. They were already in the bedroom and the victim was really scared when she discovered that there were hidden cameras fitted all around. The convict raped the woman and the act was recorded on the video. He showed her the video later and began blackmailing her subsequently. His modus operandi was to send her female accomplice to the victim whenever he felt like.

She would ask her to visit the convict's house. The victim had no option but to obey her command. As days passed by and she got fed up of being blackmailed and raped, the woman mustered up and courage and reported the matter to Al Rayan Police. The officials there thought of setting up a trap to catch the culprit red-handed. The trick worked and the convict and his female aide were both caught and taken into custody.

Investigations revealed that the man had blackmailed several women and raped them in the past using video tapes as a threat and the beauty salon worker was his latest victim. Interestingly, the investigators discovered that his woman accomplice was also one of his victims and was aiding him under blackmail. The court relied on medical reports and other pieces of evidence to sentence the duo to jail for committing the serious crime.
