10% Limit on rent increases
Maybe safwany can help here.... a colleague has recently been told that the 10% cap on rent increases only applies to unfurnished flats and houses and not to his furnished flat. I dont believe that is true (i assume that what it doesnt apply to is hotels and short term residences). Anyone have any comments on this.

Hi Getinandstayin, You are ...Hi Getinandstayin,
You are right, the 10% yearly increament only apply for ordinary apartments or villas even if they are furnished unless this building was been approved as a short term furnished apartment which is consider as a hotel such as Adam furnished apartments or Royal Wings.

Thanks ayman.... do you know ...Thanks ayman.... do you know where i can get my hands on the text of this law? just in case my friends landlord tries to break the law. Also, where do you complain in the event that the landlord does try and increase the rent by more than 10%.
Again.. thanks
Respect

I will tell you a small ...I will tell you a small trick ;)
No one has the right (even the landlord) to enter your house without your permission ...........
If the Landlord try to increase the rent more than 10% then you refuse and don't leave the house, I didn't mean not to go to work what I mean is you don't take your staff from the house and keeo it there cause legally he can't enter the house without your permission and if he did you can call the police and tell them there is a stranger in the house and they will catch him.
In this case, you go to the court and pay the normal rent with or without the 10% increament and give them the landlord details so you save your rights from not paying the rent.
I don't know where to get a copy of this law but I don't think it is hard just need to do some search.
No need to complain about him and let him do that by himself ;)
