But as far as feathers are concerned, just wear them in your hair, and the whips, well you gonna need them anyway for camel racing in the dunes.

ROFLMAO. It's not the ropes, ...ROFLMAO.
It's not the ropes, it's the handcuffs that would be the problem.
Electrical (battery stuff) they may make you use it to show it's not a bomb.

It is a big problem indeed, ...It is a big problem indeed, cuz you can walk the walk (as in Giasi's scenario), but you will come to an abrupt halt at the metal detector. Then will have the burden of silencing the beeper and walking through the detector again. You know, these things have always some tiny metallic components in them.
Be careful.

Thank you butterfly, i will never eat another salad again.
I did hear of one couple who improvised with a tub of industrial lubricant, a chicken and a vacuum cleaner, but that might just be a rumour.
Dont make the mistake of the couple who plugged in their super duper tandem vibrator in their hotel room only to find out the power supply was 220V and not 110V. Power went out across half of doha, it took the undertaker 2 days to wipe the smiles of their faces and they had to bury them in a single coffin.

The word "vibrator" might be in the system as a trigger word and when used on Qatari internet might bring the Morality Police running...... Like the CIA picking up the words "Suicide Bomber" on their waves......lol.....
We wouldn't want poor Qatari to lose his baby (site), now would we.....

Giasi my English Italian friend. I have a hard and fast rule about s3x and that is it - (work it out everyone). I have an early start at work.
Butterfly you can be Kinky and serious. The fact you are serious is even more kinky. I'm off to sit in Carrefour to stare at the vegetables and then rue the fact that I can't cover myself in Danish butter.

Let’s not let this become a diplomatic gaffe, or a faux pas between two nations.

hey butter....now i understand why u r keen abt thailand. there u get fresher veggies...but here all imported (dont know whether it really makes a diff).
just 1 serious Q - do the immigration/customs people at Doha scan thru each & every item of the baggages? i am planning to move with lots of CDs/DVDs (movies, work related etc. no porns of course). any fore-warns?

Anyways, re your question...
Nooo, I think they are pretty relaxed about it. My bags weren't searched on arrival. And if they do, the wost that can happened is that they confiscate it.
Just to bring any stuff like porn, drinks or drugs, and you will have no probs.

Shipped baggage is usually ...Shipped baggage is usually opened (EVERY box, in my experience) and Customs claim to inspect every book, CD and DVD that is shipped in (hence the long delays in Customs here).
Checked and carry-on baggage is x-ray scanned on arrival. I have had about 2 dozen CDs in my carry-on and wasn't asked to even see the covers.
Just my experience.

thanks for the answer on custom's check. i hv travelled with CD/DVD into Saudi, so didn't expect a problem at Qatar. still thought of asking u all.
I am also planning to air cargo some stuffs (home theatre, utensils clothes etc). i am told since i am already a GCC resident there will not be much check. Loki yr exp was for travelling within GCC or frm outside?
Can anyone pls. share exp on receiving goods by air cargo?

No, I didn't take it ...No, I didn't take it serious..., I hardly get offended.
My husband is still waiting for the damn contract to be mailed to him. Got an email yesterday saying that it will definately be ready by monday... It was supposed to be ready last week! Awww, is taking too long. I guess we will move around may, if everything goes according to plan.
I'm a little scared though, I hope I will enjoy it there. There is only one good school with british curriculum for when my daughter grows older. The rest of schools offer only Thai curriculum, meaning that I would screw her education forever. I'd like my daughter to receive french education because...well, because she is french, after all. I'm not too convinced about the medical facilities over there.
Too many worries...
Oh, well, we'll see...
siddh said
yes...edu is a problem ...yes...edu is a problem there. Phuket is basically a tourist destination. medical facilities are lousy. the best medical amenities in that region is at Singapore. serious patients are always shifted there.
anyway, it is not so bad....u will hv a diffrnt taste. i suppose frenchs are there too.

thanks
dweller said
Anayeb, they should have ...Anayeb, they should have already been advised you about the relocation policy. If they haven't then make sure that you ask before signing anything. They allow a shipment weight for personal effects (it used to be be 1,000kg including packing) but may have been reduced since I left.
The topic of medicals is covered elsewhere on this site.
As for furniture, you will receive a furniture "grant" that is worked off over 4 years plus an interest free car loan that is paid back over 3 years. Ask for the book "Destination Qatar", if it has been updated then it will help yu.

straight answer? sure...it's "NO, you can't" ...You could try if you wanna to get yourself embarrassed or (worse) at the customs/inspection area.
Qatar is an Arabic Country...respect the norms...

Have announcement in local newspaper ...that a couple is bringing SEX TOYS with them. If somebody has any claim that its their stolen SEX TOYS then contact the couple within 3 days otherwise these toys will be lawfully owned by them
.
Then you can bring them to Qatar with ease [lolzzzz]

No problems ...I arrived through customs with absolutely no incident. The vigilant security people were completely unconcerned with the contents of my luggage which contained an obvious volume of toys. The was no examination beyond the standard x-ray machine, and no bag was opened or particularly scrutinized.
My fiancee and I are pleased to have doubted the cynicism of naysayers.
