VoIP & Skype == Change to qatar proxy
Ok here is the solution:
I basically called them (125) and told them that I cannot reach skype site. (After the response from their GM on the newspaper). And from there, the technical person told me to just add to my proxy
(proxy.qatar.net.qa) and port is (8080)
After that, I was able to go buy minutes and call whoever I want.
And it is working fine.But you need to make sure to adjust the skype connection to that proxy so that it works. And so if you are using vonage or such, need to adjust the proxy to the qatar proxy. Otherwise, it wont work.
And skype is working perfectly find for me.....And yes, even for PC to PC...As for MSN, i have not tried it since ages due to the huge difference of voice quality between skype and MSN.

Since Q-Tel claims that they are responsible for data transmission over the internet and not for voice transmission, it remains to be seen whether this is their latest gimmick of giving access to the data on the skype website..

I tried the proxy settings, ...I tried the proxy settings, unfortunately, the didn't work for me. I called the helpdesk '125' they are saying they are still fixing the technical problem!!! lol!!! I can't get to skype website!!! lol lol lol

Vonage Softphone does not ...Vonage Softphone does not work at all. All attempts to use Softphone gets a "login timed out! Contact Network Admin."
On the Vonage PAP2 adapter, I can only get a decent connection if some calls me. If I try to call out, the connection is horrible. I've been tempted to switch over to the RTP200-VD I have, but I don't want to go to the bother if it doesn't solve the problem.
Skype does work quite well, so I'm suspecting it's a port I need to reroute. Anyone have any ideas??
http://www.testyourv... says that "Your computer couldn't call our location on the standard SIP port (5060). Generally, this failure is caused by a firewall blocking our calls."
A side note, they're also blocking voice and video chat on AIM / iChat. Yahoo video is still good though

try budgetsip ...try budgetsip, its much better and much cheaper than skype...
im using it without any proxies, and i dont have any problems whit it!

DO NOT USE PROXY ...IF YOU LOT USE QATAR PROXY THEN CAN COULD BE CHARGIN YOU FOR THE INTERNATIONAL CALLS .... AS SKYPE OR OTHER VOIO SOFTWARES HAS BEEN BANNED IN QATAR...AS QTEL IS LOSING OUT ALOT ON INTERNATIONAL CALLS... CHCK QL I HAVE READ IT SOMEWHERE...!!!

trust me . some protocol dont work indeed . but VIOP is working fine .
