Restaurant Cuisines
Ric's Kountry Kitchen
|
Cuisine:
Contact Number: 443-7846
Restaurant Features:
- Good for kids Directions: Located on Ras Abu Aboud Street, in the same small shopping center area where Sana and Giant are. Coming from the Corniche, turn up by the old Movenpick (across from the Islamic Museum). Go straight at the traffic lights, and at the small R/A ahead turn left. Ric's is 50 m away on the right side.
Description:
Ric's has been around for AGES! It's still one of the only places to get breakfast at a reasonable price. Their menu has both breakfast and lunch/dinner foods on it, but you can order the breakfast items at any time. Southern American cooking, slight diner atmosphere (but not like Johnny Rockets!), BIG portions, 2-3 soups of the day, plus a few dessert specialties daily too. Stuff like chicken fried steak, juevos rancheros, chili dogs, etc. Prices run about like they would at a Chilis or Applebees, I guess -- not cheap but certainly not hotel prices either. They get crowded on the weekends for breakfast so if you're not there by 9:30, expect a wait to get a table. |

As good a "traditional" breakfast as you'll find in Doha. Not too expensive, though not cheap either, but tasty food, good & efficient service and a nice atmosphere |

I have to agree with TallG...its a good basic American breakfast. I LOVE their home fries...crispy but not over done. Ok...they do need to learn not to over knead the biscuits tho...makes them tough. I always order the blueberry pancakes..they are awesome!! |

I like their huge breakfast platters, and i used to LOVE their nacho's, but i don't know why they haven't been serving nacho's for more than a year. What i don't like about Ric's is the attitude of the waitress in there. She always has this grumpy look on her face. |

I am a pancakes-lover and went to Ric's to try their's. After trying them twice (the blueberry and the plain ones), I wouldn't have Ric's as my first choice. Their pancakes are not "well-done", kind of soggy. First time I tried the blueberry pancakes and they were almost raw in the middle. I then decided to give it another chance and go there again to order the plain ones. This time I made it clear to the waiter that I want them "well-done". But, again the same results. So I thought maybe it is the pancake-mixture they are using or simply they do it this way. The best for me until now are Kudu's pancakes (and Kudu's breakfast in general). You can find Kudu in City Center. :-) |

Dude...how can none of you give this place FIVE STARS?! Best spot in Doha. AMAZING BURGERS, great breakfast: the breakfast burrito is phenomenal, so are the huevos rancheros. As for the waitress she is very nice...just kinda shy. Give her a chance...She'll warm up to you if you tip!! HAHA X |

Ric's Kitchen is undoubtedly a place where you can just pig-out and not feel the least bit guilty. However, I have to agree with one of the posts here regarding the waitress (Is she Filipino or Mexican, I can't really tell). Anyways, she is TOTALLY prejudiced against, frankly put, Arabs. Every time I go there I notice her givin' me the LOOK of disdain which one would serve on a cold platter to his worst enemy. It's like a dog which senses Evil and starts barking; except that to the best of my knowledge, i'm a very friendly and cuddly guy. And what's more annoying is that she bold-facilely changes her personality as soon as she passes our table to the American/European/Non-Arab ones (I and several friends have witnessed this first-hand quite a few times). Ric's could be my Holy Mecca is they'd just work a bit on their attitude and put on a freakin' smile every now & then! P.S: WE NEED STEAKS AND NACHOS!!! In the name of all that's holy, someone start a petition to get these guys to re-stock on nachos!! |

I was really looking forward to Ric's as I had heard and read wonderful things. However, my experience was not one that would make me a repeat customer. Starting with items that I can praise: 1) Yummy Hotdogs (although you should get two for that price!) Now, the bad news: 1) Coleslaw was not well flavored, stick to even KFC! Altogether, The wait staff was great but the prices were very high for the poor decor (nicer tables and chairs would be a start) and mediocre quality of the food. Instead of revisiting Ric's, I'll just whip up a tastier meal at home. |

been to Ric's two successive Fridays now (22th & 29th January 2010) and I find the food great. For someone like me who's watching what I eat, YOU need to leave dieting outside the door coz the servings are HUGE. :-) The MEGAs and texan breakfast was great... |

This is a classic American diner. Although it would probably score somewhere in the neighborhood of average in the US, it is a real treasure here. My sense is that the longer I have been away from the US the better Ric's tastes. |

Just been there last Thursday-21st July 2011. I would not recommend this restaurant even to people that I don't like. The first thing that greeted me was the unpleasant smell of mildew. The price is not commensurate to the quality of the food. I ordered meat loaf with gravy but was so frustrated with what they served: Side dish-soggy & sour green beans, meat loaf were covered with gravy that tasted like flour melted in hot water. I paid almost QR 100 along with the bacon cheese burger that my daughter had ordered. This restaurant is a super fail! I would suggest everyone to consider Johnny Rockets instead.
