Cafe Bateel

Cuisine:
Contact Number: 444-1414
Restaurant Features:
Directions: Located on Salwa Road, between Ramada and Asiri (Midmac) R/A. It's the next shopping strip up from Fauchon; Bateel is the last business in that strip
Description:

I guess Cafe Bateel is more than a cafe; it's a proper restaurant with a full menu of foods. I like it because the inside decor is quite nice -- gives the impression of a quiet, private place to meet someone for coffee or a meal.

As most folks in Doha know by now, Cafe Bateel is famous for their bakery (breads) and their cakes. The menu is quite varied and includes sandwiches, soups, fish and chips as well as machpoos. Loads of fresh juice cocktails available, too.

Prices are okay -- moderate I would say.

My daughter wanted a cheesecake for her birthday and since I had heard so much about bateel, I bought one from there..imagine my dissapointment when it turned out to be just ordinary sponge cake with a thin layer of icing..only the topping was a genuine blueberry cheescake one...I had to shell out a considerable amount, because they did not have any for sampling..needless to say,I will not be buying anything more from bateel if they do not have samplings.

we found cafe bateel to be a lovely to dine in. large sofas and prompt service. the staff were polite and smiley.
we ordered seafood platter for starters. it came with a massive chips and tartar sauce. i found the hammour melts in the mouth and the batter was light and crisp. the king prawns were massive and smelt and tasted fresh which was great. we then had tagliatelle and grilled chicken breast and the fish and chips. both were tasted good the pasta was very rich and the chicken wasnt dry either. the fish was the same as the started tender with a light batter, we ordered two mocktails and i can recommend the carribean queen mocktail :)
this meal came to 190 riyals so slightly pricey but worth it overall.

Excellent food, reasonable prices and extensive menu. Their breakfasts are very, very good.
