The restaurant is very stylish and unique for Qatar, BUT...the main dish I had ordered was terrible. I had the crab corn soup which was great, then I ordered a noodle dish with chicken and shrimp (sorry can't remember the name), definitely not good. |

I agree with the other reviewers, the food is below expectations. I ordered sweet and sour chicken, which is pretty standard fare in Chinese cuisine, and it was disappointing - there was a bit of sand on the chicken itself, it wasn't deep fried as the menu suggested and overall it wasn't a satisfying dish. My friend ordered Thai beef, it was better, but again the food came in cold - and the restaurant was empty, it's not like they were busy.... Wouldn't be back there again. |

I went to SOY couple of times and honestly it’s a great Chinese Thai and Japanese restaurant, the service was great and the food was more than excellent, this restaurant serves food that was pretty good. Traditional Chinese food. The atmosphere was also great, and plenty of space for you to move around. The waiters were friendly compared to some other restaurants In Doha. I'd recommend this if you're in Doha area. |

And they weren’t pricy for seafood! My friend loves sushi and she says they serve good sushi there.. a variety actually.. The staff were veryyy friendly too.. |

I have been there twice, the place was awesomely fantastic! I bet the owner spends a huge amount of riyals to put up this restaurant. If you are a big fan of asian cuisine, Soy is the perfect place for you! The service was great because most of them are southeast asians. The food was reasonably priced because it was simply amazing! I guess, negative comments came from non Asian food lovers. |

Wow!! Soy is one of the nicest restaurants in Doha at the moment. Their staff are polite and friendly, the service is good and prompt and the food is just soooo scrumptious!!! the layout of the place is so good too and the guys had like a football match projected on the huge wall for outdoor diners, heck, they think of everything eh?? Everything there is yummmm. We had some chinese noodles, thai bang kyi noodles?? and a very very tasty thai spicy beef. |

I have been once invited by my friends to SOY, and it was a nice experience.Soy is a nice place for fine dining, the interior is exellent, you have private rooms where you can have business or family dinners without getting disturbed by other guests or disturbing them, great place to have a snack or tea , specially coming hot summer evenings...It is a new restaurant , friendly staff but there is a big BUT. It is not a chinese restaurant, might be asian, or asian style dining, they have to employ a chinese chief or a chief who has experience in chinese food... |

The resto is a surprise, we went there for dinner and it was to my surprise that the resto is so big, the interior is nice, too. We got a table by the window. The food is so-so, very standard. I have not been to any other chinese resto in Doha, so I could not compare it. But I have tasted better chinese food before... The waiters are nice, they help us with the stroller (going up and down the stairs) but I think some of them do not really speak English. I ask about the menu and they were speachless. Maybe they need to be trained again. Oh, and there are so many of them, and not so many of guest at the time. Well, it is always good to have extra service... |

I have Been to Soy MANY times....maybe six or seven times. I have ordered off the menu and my beef & Broccoli was very good and my companions meals were just as good! I mainly go there for the sushi night (TUESDAY NIGHTS: 7 to 10) The selection is very good and the seafood is fresh and very yummy!!! The ambiance is great too! Very nice decor. Prices are average...they are comparable to all the other places in town! I have recommended Soy to all of my friends and will continue to go back again and again myself! |

And i love Asian food and been to many countries where these dishes originated, and still i have some negative comments!sorry:( |

After reading comments from others, good and bad, we gave the place a try last weekend. Indeed quite a large place with interesting nice decor but unfortunately the quality of food wasnt anywhere near our expectations.. Dont take me wrong, it was certainly quite edible but not really worth the money.. Strifried noodles were gooey, grilled chicken was first class, prawns in sweet n sour sauce were more sweet than sour, mocktails were good, nassi goreng just passable with bits of underdone rice!! Incidentally asking suggestion from the guy serving on us didnt do any help as he was as unaware about the food they serve as we were! Seemingly it is a fusion resto and not really a south-east asian or chinese one and so I guess lovers of fusion cuisine may like the food.. |

Mixed review. Like the setting, love the comfy chairs. My first time there, everything I had was good, although the salad was very strange. Second time - the 'Chinese' shrimp arrived at the table breaded, deep fried - and still in their shells. So like to eat the shrimp, you have to scrape off the breading, take off the shell, take off the head, take off the tail . . . ? I have never had shrimp served breaded over shells. We asked the waiter, he asked the cook and they said they always serve it that way. It was just weird. I will go back, try a few things, mostly because we like Souk al Waqef and all the parking. But I agree, there are better places to go if you are looking for really good Asian food. |

Very dissapointed with this one.. Good ambiance spacious, but food is below average, not authentic at all! DO NOT order the Peking duck unless you are into yucky thick and fat duck skin (not cooked the way it should in other words). Probably an ok place for those who do not know what chinese food should really taste like. |

We never saw the interior, just the courtyard, which we loved. The evening was perfect for eating outside, the shisha nearby smelled nice(surprised us all!) and we enjoyed the food. We ordered simple food and simple is good.We stuck to the Chinese menu, lots of veggies, rice and chicken. The service was friendly, not super fast, but we were there to relax, not to hurry away. I found it kind of surreal to be in this gulf country, surrounded by men in thobes, women in headcoverings and watching J Lo and Shakira gyrate, while Jessica simpson did her version of western gyrating in skimpy outfits made more lewd by the way they were airbrushed/censored. I don't think whoever did it realized that an airbrushed thong gives an impression of total nudity. . .In the meantime, I was respectfully wearing my long skirt and a modest sweater top. I am surprised by the things that are on tv and up for public viewing in the souk, but that is kind of OT. We really had fun at the restaurant, and my 9 year old son saw his first music videos:) The tables/decor was charming and inviting and we didn't want to leave. It was the first best time we had in Doha after some hard adjusting to the traffic and malls. Perfect first visit to the souk! |

It was supposed to be a Chinese restaurant as per the category the SOY restaurant is in this website but I think the Manager or the owner has misunderstood their concept. CALAMARI is a culinary treat made of squid that is native to Spanish, Italian, and Greek cuisines that is made of squid. And not even Asian for god sake!!!! Asian Fusion is a mix of East and West cuisines ...example an Asian meal presented as a European presentation and European presented in an Asian meAL presentation . The place decor is GREAT but the lighting is TOO DARK and I almost tripped when i went to the Toilet. the place lighting should be adjusted ....pricing is too high and the waiters are terrible. |

At best, the food can be said to be nothing better than average. However I agree that for the quality, it is massively over priced. Also I found the sushi to be terrible. The service is especially poor - this seems to be the case even when the number of staff working exceeds the customers. In my opinion, pound for pound there are far better options out there. |
