Description:

When they say a restaurant is run by celebrity chef ‘Gordan Ramsey’ , you at least expect fabulous.

Well, it’s not!

Although the staff were charming & cheerful, There is nothing amazing about the place.

The interior is modern, yet not slick. Not to mention the finishing…

The restaurant theme is French cuisine with an Asian twist (fusion) which was featured in their menu.

Starters were just ordinary…

Main courses were dull & flavourless …

side dishes were greasy & tasteless…

The dessert selection were delightful though

I’ve been to other Gordan Ramsey establishments like Verre in Dubai & Maze Grill in London and both have great sitting & mouth watering selection of food.

I’m sorry to be blunt. Maze at the pearl is nothing close And it’s totally overrated

Well a friend and myself went to Maze two nights ago... the decor was lovely, the terrace was wonderful, views were amazing at sunset, food was gorgeous, staff were lovely.. etc...etc..
The presentation of food was wondeful, really unique and very 'gordon ramsay'! We were there for hours and the cost wasn't any different to any restaurant in any of the five star hotels here.
I'd recommend going. Its lovely to have somewhere else to go in Doha, that isn't attached to a god forsaken hotel chain!! ;o)

I went last week with a large group of people so I was able to see and taste quite a lot of the food.
I loved it all. You have your tapas style menu on the left which would be great if you were at a smaller table I would think you would need about 3 per person or more to fill up. The servings were small - but it is tapas style.

If you want to skip tapas or do what I did and have one as an entree, then enjoy your main, with a side.

I loved it all the warm bread and gorgeous dip along with the beautiful olives with the most devine olive oil. I wouldnt allow them to take it away even when the mains came.

The crab, green apple puree and bloody mary sauce a part of the Tapas (which I had as my entree) was different and tasted fabulous. My main was the salmon with some greens on the side. Which was simply so fresh and bursting with flavour. No desert for me, though I did look great and I didnt hear any complaints.

The T-Bone from Australia did look and taste wonderful and it was one dish that you certainly didnt need a side for, as everyone was extreemly full.

To be honest I have heard a number of ifs and buts about the place, though in comparison to a number of places I have experienced since I have been here for me it is by far the best. Yes some of the portions are smaller than going to Applebees but as far as I am concerned if you waant a great dining experience of an Entree, Main, Wines, Dessert and coffees you do NOT want large portions! All the food was beautiful and and the service was up to Ramada Standard. Perfect.

Definitely give it a try.

Also the number to book is 495 3876 extension 1431 I couldnt find it anywhere.

I ate at Maze last week and LOVED it! Service was great, friendly. Food was delicious....fresh, different ingredients and good portion size.
I am a little shocked that the reviewer above would even compare Maze with Applebee's!!!! How can you possibly compare a high end restaurant with fast food junk?!?!?! It's like comparing clothes from H&M with Gucci! Different leagues entirely...
Anyway - price wise Maze is on a par with most restaurants in the high end hotels - W, Hyatt, Ritz, Four Seasons, La Cigale...
Great atmosphere, lovely view....sat out on the terrace and it was beautiful. I highly recommend!

Just came from The Maze and experienced the best customer service I've received in Doha so far. The General Manager of the restaurant should think about giving a workshop on meeting and surpassing customer expectations to members of the hospitality industry in Doha. She was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about what goes into the food and how it's prepared.
Couldn't get a reservation for dinner, but the menu looks very tempting. At first glance, the menu looks exotic and one can get easily confused, but just ask the server to break down what's what for you and soon you'll want to try all the dishes.
Our group ordered 4 different desserts and all of them were yummy! They were the perfect portion serving size and elegantly served on what looked like a black tile. The presentation was very artistic. Had the chocolate fondant, date crumble, ginger and chocolate rice pudding and macaroon, would highly recommend the first two.
Definitely a restaurant worth returning to for the food, ambiance and customer service.

Gordon Ramsay Maze

What a disapointment this place is .....

The food was alful...our group of 8 went last night so we had plenty of choices.....the portions were tiny with the idea to share plates tappa style was a crazy one if you were in a group any larger than 2 ....anything fried like the soft shell crab tasted as if it had been fried in very old oil.....the snow crab starter looked lovely ....but where was the crab?? a very fine sprinkling over a very strange tasting apple mouse..but the beetroot salad was lovely
Main courses of Tough rib eye Australian Steaks and questionalable chicken left much to be desired....the braised lamb certainly could have done with a couple more hours of braising!!

More food was returned to the kitchen than was eaten..

The staff were very cheerful but seem to spend more time concerned we had the right type of wine glass than pouring the wine !

The best thing about the restaurant was the wine and the frozen Macdonald style chip....but who wants to eat frozen, prepacked chips in a restaurant of this so called standard !!

I am French, and I have been yesterday with my wife (early April) to what we were expecting to be probably the best restaurant in town.
How disappointed we were !
The restaurant is far far from what can be a one star Michelin.
We left the restaurant with a 1000 QAR bill for 2 which is not that expensive for a starred restaurant, but in that case it is not worth.
What is not up to the standard:
1) we sat outside, no view on the Marina except for a very few tables, chairs are not very comfortables
2)No salt and pepper on the table ?
3) the bread was greasy and very average (and some restaurant in town have very good bread)
4) the menu is quite strange, as for your main dish, you decide by yourself what you want to put as side dish. Looking like a junk food concept, which has definetely not is place in such restaurant. In a top restaurant, the dish is prepared as a whole, so that everything in your plate are 'compatible'
5) The wrong names: we had something called 'cassoulet' as starter, let me tell you that what we got was definetely not a cassoulet !
6) French fries looking like not very natural, served with an Aioli sauce which has no garlic in it (or so less that you don't feel it)!
7) The fish of my wife was not enough cooked, so it went back to the kitchen !

In addition, the food was served so fast which gives you a bit of frustration (at least for French who enjoy to spend some time in restaurant when the food is good) and question the freshness of the cooking.

If I can only give an advise, is to forget about this restaurant for the time being, and go to the good ones in town such as The Market in W or The Central in La Cigale.
Let's hope that M. Ramsey will put a bit more effort to correct this situation and give us a real top restaurant.

We went to Maze on Friday night for our son's 21st and must say we were very nervous after reading some of the negative reviews on this site. Well what a pleasant surprise, we had one of the best evenings since coming to Qatar.
1) The service was excellent
2) The food was fantastic very healthy and good size portions.
3) The decor was very nice and the chairs comfortable!
4) The birthday cake they made was beautifully presented and tasted yummie!
5) The wine list was excellent with a wide range of prices to suite everyones purse.
Having been to La Gigale, W, Intercontental, Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton and others we can only say that everyone has different taste buds and what one likes another will not.
So we would say to anyone thinking of going, GO, it really was a lovely night and the price was even more suprising. Thank you to everyone there if you read this.

My wife and I went to Maze restaurant last Friday night and I must say we were very disappointed. The quality of the service was only average, we had the shoulder of lamb for mains and it was terrible, we could not eat it and had to return it to the kitchen and the atmosphere was lacking, that said the place was approx 20% full.
I've eaten in all of Gordon's restaurants in London (including Maze) and frankly the one at the Pearl is a discredit to his name and reputation.
If you want to experience true Gordon Ramsey food - don't waste your money going to Maze at The Pearl.

I took my wife to the Maze for lunch on Saturday 10th July when she was over to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary. Whilst I would agree with the lack of atmosphere (difficult to achieve at that time of year when most people have fled the country or stay indoors until after the sun goes down) we found the service to be attentive (without being intrusive) and the food excellent. Following our experience that lunchtime I booked for an evening meal on Tuesday 12th to celebrate our anniversary. There was more atmosphere on the evening due to a number of large group enjoying the restaurant. The duty manageress and waiting staff were different from our first visit but once again gave excellent service to compliment the food. All in all a memorable meal, right down to the delivery of a diamond ring I had purchased for my wife that had been placed, as a feature, within the dessert. Some have commented about the lack of taste though I never experienced that. What I enjoyed, in addition to its mouthwatering taste, was it's presentation as shown in the attached photo of our lunchtime desserts.

I just returned from Maze with my parents and my husband, we had gone there for his birthday. I was skeptical after reading mixed reviews on Qatar Living but I was quite re- assured before I even ordered. We were greeted by warm, friendly waiter and waitresses and the manager. As soon as we sat down they brought us the menus and immediately served us bread with olive oil. We each ordered a main dish, I ordered the French corn fed chicken, my husband ordered the Australian Angus Beef Fillet and my Parents ordered the Hammour (fish). To share we ordered the Gulf Shrimps. I can say the Gulf shrimps were a little messy as we had to clean it ourselves and I don't particularly care for the shell but when my main meal arrived and I took the first bite, I could literally feel the chicken melting in my mouth, it was extremely scrumptious and appetizing. The sauce was also very delicious, a little tangy and a little sweet - the perfect blend. My husband is an avid steak fan and he could not have been happier. He was savoring every bite and stated several times during the meal that this was indeed the best steak he had ever eaten. Ditto for my parents, both thoroughly enjoyed the hammour and were raving about it. For sides, we ordered chips as well as mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were extremely creamy and delicious, perhaps my most favorite side dish eaten in a while. Last but not least, our dessert was the parfait, picked for us by our server, and we sure didn't regret asking her to choose for us, it was most gratifying. Overall, our experience was incredible, they brought my husband a little complimentary birthday cake and sang for him which was very sweet and memorable. I would definitely recommend this restaurant, perhaps not everyday unless you can afford it, but once in a while it sure is worth it!

Hi Guys,

Had lunch at Maze this weekend with a table of four. Just reading through some of the reviews that are here can't actually see if they went to the same restaurant?
This is how excellent food and service should be. I have been a regular diner at Maze in London and the food and style of service is probably the best I have had in the four years I have been in Doha.
The set three course menu for luch at QAR140 per person you just can't go wrong. It changes bi-weekly and we will definately be back. The wine list has a great range of decent wines that won't kill your wallet and also if you are looking for something more special they also have the obscenely high end stuff there as well to keep everyone happy.
The portions are in perfect perspective, if you have three course you will be more than full enough. However if your regular meal out is an all you can eat buffet then this or this style of restaurant may not be for you. Saw a comment about no salt or pepper on the table, if the food is already perfect, why would you want to change it? (Sorry, pet peeve of mine...)
Maze is a nice alternative to some of the hotel brunches out there too.
Would really recommend anyone to get down there and give it a go.

Lovely food, all in all a good lunch except for rude waitress who acted like I was either a comedian or mentally ill because I didn't want the set menu for lunch. Not really sure why they have an a la carte menu if they don't want you to have anything and also my main course cost more than a whole set menu so you would think they would welcome it. The waiting staff aside, the house staff are very nice and the food was great.

I have to agree with other negative reviews: the Maze is deeply disappointing. Staff are very attentive and the service is good, but the restaurant - and Gordon Ramsay's good name - is let down by inconsistent cooking. On a recent visit the excellence of a perfectly cooked steak was overshadowed by undercooked potatoes. A piece of chicken was perfect on the inside, but the effort of breaking through the leathery outer surface - a symptom of spending too long on the pass - took away any pleasure there might have been in the eating. Salads can be excellent, but are just as likely to be mediocre; the same can be said of the desserts. Were this review based on a single visit one could hope that the restaurant was merely having a bad day: it isn't and it wasn't. My wife and I have been to Maze several times as guests of others, as hosts for visitors who wanted to experience what should have been fine dining in Doha and, initially, as eager diners. "Disappointing" has been the consistent comment.

Went for new yrs eve service, ambiance, champagne and extras all very good, the main was awful very chewy duck I had to send it back, some things were missing from the set menu such as it said ouster's' and there was only 1! the desert said chocolate orange and it had no orange flavour

I would expect a lot more from a world famous restaurant, it was very expensive for what it was
