BITES OF BEIRUT
You can’t hurl a date in Doha without hitting a Lebanese restaurant. Devotees of the Arab world’s most celebrated cuisine should target Al Mourjan (Balhambar building, Corniche; 974-483-4423; www.almourjanrest.com). Opened last fall, the bayside restaurant is already winning over the city’s chicest set with its stylish white interiors, stellar waterfront vistas and fine Levantine dishes. The zesty baba ghanouj hits the sweet spot between chunky and creamy, while the sojok sausages are judiciously spiced and served in zesty tomato sauce. There’s no booze, but thick fruit juices, syrupy Turkish coffee and the sweet smoke of a shisha pipe are a satisfying accompaniment. A full meal for two people costs around 300 rials.

Tried to go there once..did not work though...for the following reason...the owners/people who designed the place had no idea how inaccessable this place is for people with special needs who are on a wheel chair or walk using a cane or crutches....absolutely ridiculous!!!..no direct access to it from the road and the only access is through the car parking which is about 200 meters away then people need to walk more than that to get to the building...my wife has a medical condition and she uses a stick to walk and it was out of the question for us to walk all that distance (specially with our 4 months old)

Very Overpriced , Compared to Service and Quality...
After entering, you will be offered the menu, then you will get surprised by the Minimum Charge Placed, but dont worry the prices are very high so its almost the same like not placing a minimum charge. Service is very modest compared to the Price and the Ambience.

Myself and 3 friends went here last week (Nov 09) and we were all HIGHLY disappointed.
The setting is nice, however the service was very poor and the price for what you get is terrible - and we are used to high prices at top restaurants.
The fresh fish was certainly not fresh. All 4 of us returned our food and were told that it was our fault!!
Rude staff, terrible food. I would not advise it.

Well first of all it was Friday afternoon when my two work colleagues and i decided to go for a meal where normally most place would be closed.
We decided to try the Al Mourjan Lebenese restaurant on the corniche. Its location is perfectly set alongside the sea with some impressive views of Doha's coastline.
The restaurant itself is very swish and the waiters are most helpful once you enter the premises.
The food was brought out to us within reasonable waiting time as we ordered a huge selection of appertisers to share. Then came the main course which included a seafood platter to share. The lobster was incredible and would recommend the seafood dishes anyday. The meat dishes were nothing special and seemed basic as far as Lebenese food goes. The chips were a little on the cold side too.
So i have never eaten so much food in all my life and all three of us were completely full and very satisfied with the qhality of service and food. Next came the bill which was 1167Qr which i thought was rather expensive. However we did have lobster and so many dishes between us including desert.
So in a nutshell the restaurant is a great place to impress a girl or your wife and i can imagine in the evenings it must be a cool place to have a meal. Just make sure you are prepared to pay for the quality.

I will never forget the worst experience I had in a restaurant ever and this was it. My mother in law was visiting us in Doha and so I decided to take her to this place. After having sat down, we were rudely informed by a waiter that all seats were reserved although there had been no reservation cards on the tables.
I was not about to leave the table until I was served, so the waiter came again saying that the kitchen had stopped serving beverages(?!) although I could still see waiters shuffling to and fro with orders for other guests. So in the end they resorted to ignoring us totally after which I decided to leave and never come back.
It's really a pity that this terrible place is the only restaurant along the corniche along with the sandwich shack near the Sheraton. In other countries the corniche is usually alive with many mobile kitchens which serve everything from Shawirma to Ice cream. Why this is so is a mystery to me.
