I visited the place last night for dinner and I must admit, it was excellent. It was Morrocan buffet night. I was not expecting such a good quality and taste for only 60 Riyals. Excellent buffet, excellent service.
You can even see the chef coming to the buffet area to check and to greet customers. That is normally a good sign that chef is not afraid of facing those who are eating his cooking .... :)

I can not afford to eat at buffets every day (weight problem), but I guess that I will be a frequent visitor to this place. They also have theme nights and I would like to check them all out.

Salam,
Three of us decided to give the Al Thoraya Moroccan Buffet a try. The restaurant is located in the Gulf Paradise Hotel. What an unforgetable and delicious feast. Executive Chef Mustafa from Agadir does a capable job with a wide variety of Moroccan dishes. This turns out to be a perfect way for anyone wanting to sample Moroccan cuisine and its surprising breadth/diversity. We happened to visit during their Moroccan Food Festival but were told that the Friday Moroccan buffet service is identical. We could only taste some of the variety of dishes available (keeping with the legendary Moroccan tradition, there was too much).

On our recent visit they had:
Couscous with Lamb and vegetables
Lamb Mechoui with vegetables
Tajine with lamb, prunes. almonds and sesame seeds
Tajine of fish and vegetables
Tajine with chicken, pickled lemons and olives
Bastilla (both varieties with chicken and seafood)
Harira soup
Tajine with kefta and eggs
plus a great display of many apetisers and freshly made salads. And to finish off, they also had several pastries, cookies, fruit salad, etc. As customary for any proper Moroccan meal, they serve the obligatory hot Moroccan mint tea at the end. (I am sure I have missed some dishes).

The price was QR60 (thankfully, there was no 17% tax added like some other hotel restaurants, just the QR60)

The service was impeccable and hopefully you will get to meet the chef.

They have an international schedule with different cuisines for each night, but Moroccan night buffet is on Fridays.

I hope you give it a try and tell all your friends. The Al Thoraya Restaurant is a pleasant upgrade from Tajine.

Bon Apetit!
