We ate at the Souq Waqif outlet. The setting, decor, service, etc was very good. The food was good depending on what was ordered. I personally do not have a palate for sweet food and Morrocan food is generally sweet. My wife enjoyed her chicken dish with couscous (sp?) and my son had a really good kebab type of dish. I did not enjoy my lamb dish but my wife did! Definately worth a visit.

Prices were not expensive.

I think our experience was similar to the previous review. we went to the one by the Ramada. The decor & surroundings are quite amazing & worth a visit. However the food was not good while my wife enjoyed her meal - again the couscous, my lamb tajine was well overcooked & burnt on the bottom. We were the only ones in the Resaurant on a Thursday nite which probably sums it up. Given the length of time to cook a Tajine, I think mine had been cooked & either re-cooked or kept hot for a long period. But amazing decor

Does anyone know where you can buy a Tajine pot in Doha?

You need to visit Morocco to make the difference. This "restaurant" takes from Morocco only its name. Service is just bad.

Diffidently not good as a restaurant, may be better as a coffee shop where u can get average snack and something to drink

The Moroccan restaurant is one of the more popular restaurants at the souq. It is usually crowded on weekends as people enjoy food and smoking shisha at the outdoor dining area.

I didn't have a good start at the restaurant. Nobody served us when we first entered so we tried to look for a table ourselves and were snubbed by unfriendly waiters said curtly that "the outdoor dining area is full".

As we settled in a dark corner indoor, we waited quite some time for the food and had to remind the waiter to first serve us bread which was unfortunately cold. Hot bread would definitely be better to heat up my appetite.

We had a good brew of tea served in a beautiful teapot and cup.

We had three dishes for dinner which were couscous, lamb and kebab. The food was ok but I wasn't very sure what I was eating because it was simply too dark.
The Moroccan restaurant may be a popular restarant but I would prefer to dine in a place with friendlier service and brighter lights. I like to see what I am eating!

They have great meat dishes. The Tanjiya Marakishiya is always amazing. A must visit as the atmosphere is very romantic and worth every penny spent.

These genius managers got rid of their best deal/customer draw: the breakfast special. The breakfast special was a good intro to Moroccan cuisine with a Khlii omlet, 4 different types of bread (they always tell you they have everything, but you only get three types), honey, olive oil, olives, butter (you have to ask), harira soup and a pot of mint tea. Sadly, now you have to order each item a la carte. What a boneheaded decision.
The food is spotty and inconsistent but if you have never tried Moroccan food, this would be OK to try. They desperately need better management and training for the wait staff.
Good luck to them.
Cheers.

Tanjiya Marakishiya was excellent, Me n My Wife, we both enjoyed it.
Excellent Interiors n very serene.
The staffs were naive, may be the language barrier.
I asked for a Finger Bowl, n he gave me a bowl ;)
Well it's a must visit place.

I tried the Tajine Berber, and it was the best lamb stew I ever had. The service is moderately good. The interior is good, though the access to the upper floor seems a bit tacky, but once you reach the roof there is a beautiful roof top(open air) are if you want to sit outdoors. The place has a big screen TV too and the waiters are friendly.

We ate in the Souk Waqif Tajine about 4 months ago. We both had Tajine main courses, my GF a chicken dish and I had a lamb. Her chicken dish trumped my lamb completely. Hers smelt delicious looked delicious and I know because I tried a bit, was delicious. My lamb looked like a plate of bones, and in fact was a plate of bones with a little meat on it. It tasted lovely, but less bones and more meat would have made for a much higher rating. Can't remember anything bad about the service. And we will be returning there in February when my GF comes back out for certain.

Great experience, the food was worth trying. We ordered some couscous that had honey in it next time the honey is going to be omitted from anything we order. It was too dark suitable for love birds but with the kids no way... They were so bored and were so happy to go back home which is rather unusual for my kids.

whoever featured this res truant as "good for kids" need to re-think about that. the branch in souq waqif has a very cheap atmosphere! without mentioning the smoke. food is not that good, and service is poor especially on weekends

This is my current favorite restaurant in Doha. I love the down to earth feel of the place and the food, so far, has failed to disappoint.

The main course can take a little time to get to you but then it’s a tajine, you want fast food get a big mac.
